I'm lost. I got a light in the mail today and don't want to use the light switch that came with it. I want to use my one of my aux switches that are installed. It's the oracle skid plate with led lights. I went on YouTube and they use the switch that comes with it. My question for the group is on the switch, there's a red,
White and black wire. What do I do with these wires? Connect the red to the aux switch? Black to the ground and what about the white? Any input would be grateful. Ty

Ty so much. This is my first Jeep. I wasn't sure what to do with the white wire. I was assuming it was neutral but still wasn't sure what to do with it. I've had the Jeep now for about 9 days.

I deleted my post, after looking at the pic and Oracles instructions it might have been incorrect info. I can help but need more info. Is there a light on the switch? A pic of the entire harness would help. Are there any relays in the harness? You will be tossing the wiring to the switch. Let me know wire colors on the skid plate light. Oracle instruction are different than your pic, they show the blue in the middle.

Are you talking about this?
https://www.oraclelights.com/produc...ladiator-jt?rq=mk_jeep~md_wrangler-jl~yr_2020

It looks like that comes with a relay which probably explains the three wires to the switch - Black/ground, Red 12v, White switched 12v to the relay.

It looks like there is only a red and black going into the skid/light itself. You can probably ground the black to the frame tusk and run 12v to the red from one of your Aux feeds.

@ORACLElights what say you?
Yes that's the one

Is there a light in the supplied switch? If so that would explain the white wire. Just hook up the red to the under hood wire corresponding to the aux switch on the dash you plan on using, and hook the black to ground. The ground studs are under the hood on the right hand side inner fender near the battery and the switch wires. Should be good to go.

Yes there is. It's an oracle skid plate led light.

Yes, better. What others have said. Toss the switch, relay, and fuse holder. Leaves you with only the light. Should be 2 wires, black to ground on fender and the other to you aux wire. Let there be light.
It's still leaves me with three wires though. A red, white and black. As long as the white is not used then I understand. It's just the white wire which I believe is neutral I'm confused about. Having the fuse part is confusing me too. I'm not saying your wrong by any means I just want to make sure that I don't do something wrong hooking it up and blowing something.

Once you toss the relay and the rest of the wiring you dont need you should just have two wires, the wires that power the light. Three are only two wires needed to power the light. You dont need the fuse, relay or third wire because the aux switches are already set to safely function and have fuses and relays where needed.

Do these have any backlighting? That's the only thing I can think of a need for the 3rd wire. If not try the red then the white for the aux wire. Stay with black on the ground.

No backlighting at all. Just the lights.

Wow, that is needlessly complicated for a setup that only draws 6amps. See my edits below. The plug at the one end appears to be a two wire automotive plug. You can pull the sheathing back slightly to verify. If that's true, you can to cut the line before it goes into the relay/fuse/switch harness. Then the ground can go to the frame or battery negative and the positive can go to the aux switch wire.
