Oversize tire carrier issue?

Hey all! So I got my 22 Rubicon and I’m running 35 Nittos on 22 inch wheels from Axe (all which I’m selling by the way).
I installed the Mopar Oversize tire carrier to get clearance from steel bumper. One thing I noticed was that the new rubber bump stops, which are longer than stock, are still too short to touch wheels.
Does it matter? Will anything negative happen?
Should I remove the additional spacers (shims) to get it closer to the rubber bump stop?

I'd get the stops to contact the tire regardless. Without them, the spare has more inertia to bounce and cause problems with the mount itself.

Yes, I'd remove the shims. The bumpers should be compressed to hold the tire in place. Otherwise you're going to get serious shaking and eventual damage to your tailgate.

If it will clear the bumper, then you definitely want the tire/wheel sitting as close to the tailgate as possible. Not sure what "shims" you are referring to or what they do, but if you don't need them, take "em out!

Shims are these little plates to place behind carrier which will push out tire further from carrier. Since it doesn’t look like I need it for my 35’s I’m wondering if just removing them will help do the trick

I’m thinking the same. Tonight I’ll take everything off again and see how it looks once the extra shims are removed.
Guess I’d only need them if I had a thicker tire, but since I don’t, not needed. Ugh so annoying

Mopar has a spare tire relocation kit that lifts the tire about 1"-1.5" to clear the bumper, but leaves it close to the stock horizontal position.

My concern would be the further away from the tailgate it sits, the more leverage will be applied and the tailgate is the weak link.

That is strange. Has to be for reason you state with beadlock setup. These are pretty good. Little expensive but using a hacksaw you can cut to exact length needed.

OK; then remove the shims--they are not needed and are what is causing the tire to be too far away from the bump stops.

Removed the shims and it sits perfectly!
