I got new tires on order and moved up one size. Currently I have the standard Wrangler Kevlar in 255/70 R18 and the tire will be 275/70 R18 keeping the same Sahara rims. As per what I have read online my new size should not be a issue on the tire carrier but if my 255/70 look like this not sure the new size will clear the back of the carrier

M'I going to run in issue or I'm just looking for issue where there is none ?

The factory M/Ts on my Rubicon are 285/70, so yes. Unless the brake light holder is different on the Sahara, I think you’re not going to have issues. If you do though, they make a brake light alternate location kit. But that’s for 35 inch tires… you shouldn’t need this.

As others stated, just adjust the plastic brake light holder and you’ll be fine. I moved to a taller wider 285/75/17 on my Sahara and didn’t have any issue after adjusting the holder upward. I did eventually replace with the Teraflex carrier to get the brake light out of the way and to gain some rear visibility . . . but didn’t really “need” to. “Wants” and “needs” begin to blur with Jeep ownership ?.

OK so I do need to move the 3rd brake light holder upward so the wider tire will fit even if I get no get close the top of the holder

You can always leave it in its original location and then adjust if needed. Once the spare is torqued down, you can reassess. We’re only talking about a ~1/2 difference from stock, so if you can get away without moving at all, go for it. It is plastic . . . and it has some “give.”

As it stand right now, I do not think it will fit, as the 255/70 barely clear the 3rd brake light post. Actually that is a good suggestion to only move up what I need instead of limiting myself to the factory screw hole.
