Hello, I have a 2021 Jeep 4xe my wife the kids and I were on a road trip and our
Jeep shut off while doing about 70mph shortly after steering locked and didn’t have brakes. Wondering if anyone know what the fix is for this so it doesn’t ever happen again and we can be confident it won’t. We love this Jeep and it would be almost impossible to replace but if there’s not a legit fix for
This I don’t see how I can have my loved ones drive it and not be skeptical about its reliability
Thanks

Brand new poster joins forum to drop post about catastrophic life-endangering failure of controversial new Jeep model that already provokes strong emotional reactions on forum. Post provides minimal details while framed in the form of an innocent question.

What could go wrong?

If that would happen 2 my family, I would get rid of that vehicle asap! No way would I have any confidence in a fix, after that. Thats just me though, That’s some scary $hit!

This is a thing that's been happening with the 4Xe. Go here and you might find some help.

See above. Not everything is a conspiracy. A forum is literally the first thing most will turn to when looking for a fix to a problem.

I could be wrong-happens to everyone at one time or another. But first I would never purchase a first year in any vehicle, and if I had and this happened return vehicle to dealer where purchased inform them what happened and as soon as they were unable to replicate the issue be prepared to hire an attorney in the event it becomes a lemon law issue.

The answer to your question is that no, there isn't a guaranteed fix. Most people that have it happen once seem to have it addressed by either being sure all the fuses are seated and/or reflashing some of the control modules. Of the people that do that, there's a much smaller subset that has it reoccur. It doesn't seem to be just limited to the 4xe; there are JTs and non-4xe JLs that have had similar things happen.

There is a class action lawsuit that currently exists on this issue:

Also, would recommend reporting this to the NHTSA:

https://www.nhtsa.gov/vehicle/2021/JEEP/WRANGLER%2520UNLIMITED%2520PHEV/SUV/4WD#complaints

Out of curiosity, were you using adaptive cruise control at the time?
Agreed. I have been following this and Adaptive Cruise and hitting the gas has been a similarity in this issue from what I have read. Not sure the entirety of truth, but something to ask.

No we weren’t
Good - please make note of that with both the dealership and NHTSA. Per above, there’s been other reports of similar issues with adaptive cruise. It’s important to make sure these are treated as separate problems, to ensure both are addressed.

Just ask @cosine he knows!
Locked steering and no brakes going 70 mph, omg, doubt I'd ever get back in that thing :(
