Hi, need recommendation……a neighbor decided to spray paint furniture and their turquoise overspray landed on my brand new Firecracker Red Rubicon. My soft top plastic windows have turquoise paint on them. Does anyone know what can be safely used to get it off? I also need recommendations for removing the turquoise paint from my red paint, trim and black metal bumpers. These are pictures of soft top window, trim, and black metal bumper. Thanks in advance for your help. PS…. Yes I am not a happy camper. The neighbor did say they would take care of it, and I want it done right. Appreciate your help!

I would think you may need a new window...as far as the trim and paint I would call a local auto body shop to see if they would recomend anything. If you use any solvent it may also remove your top clear coat so not sure what the best route would be. you could try maybe a wax with very fine pumice to try and lift the overspray (turquoise). Sorry I can't think of anything more! I'm sure someone with more knowledge of this will chime in!! Sorry and good luck! Pretty stupid neighbor but sh.. happens.

On second thought You may need to go through his insurance and get it sorted the right way....which will be an expensive lesson for him/her!

Try a clay bar on the paint. You can try to gently use your fingernail on the windows to see if the paint will just fleck off the plastic. Obviously don't scratch with your fingernail, but at the end of the day it probably won't matter if it won't come off...you'll need new panels.

-- this (wet first w/ waterless wash) + Adams hand polish + Adams waterless wash took it off for me when something similar happened to my white JT. I was using some textured spray paint to touch up the factory metal bumper and didn't properly tape.

Plastic windows I'm not sure about... as they're easily scratched.

I had a similar issue with a car a while ago and detailer was able to use a claybar on the paint. As many people do with their new cars and say it makes them spectacular. would hate to try anything chemical on the windows…might ask same detailer you have doing the paint.

If clay will work, try synthetic, way easier/faster than a standard clay bar.

DO NOT do anything yourself. Talk to your neighbor, tell them you will have it looked at by a professional that deals with these things, and then the neighbor can decide if they want to repair our of pocket, or file an insurance claim.

FYI, you'll need to reapply wax after clay baring.

The fact that your neighbor....

1. Is spray painting furniture
2. Is spray painting furniture turquoise
3. Is spray painting furniture turquoise outdoors without considering overspray/drift

All lead me to believe that you need to move ASAP.

I know this because my sister does all three on the regular. Which is why I don't live near her.

YOU should not be doing ANYTHING. Your neighbor should be paying to make you whole, including a wax if necessary.

Thank you for your response. I also think I may need to replace windows because they scratch so easy.
