Has anyone tried any of the throttle controllers/enhancers out there with any success on the 392?

I tried one of the cheaper ones on Amazon (similar to the Speedform) and got throttle control and sensor codes right off the bat. Cleared them, let it sit, and they came right back.

I use a HikeIt in my 2.0. Super easy install and acts as described. HikeIt mode would be ridiculous on a 392. Lol.

Yeah HikeIt is similar to Speedform and the others. Lots of good reviews on most of these controllers but not many on the 392.

They're all basically doing the exact same thing. It's not a complicated microcontroller. I don't get why people pay like $300 when a $100 thing will do the exact same thing.

Yeah I have the old style Hikeit still in the box never used on my JK I sold, so I will put it on my 392 when it shows up.

**EDIT** IF it shows up

Exactly. Not sure why I was getting codes. I even let the Jeep sit for 10-15 minutes before I installed it. As soon as I turned on the ignition (not running), codes came right on...

I know the jeep has to be fully asleep when you install them. Like open door and move fob away for 5 minutes. Then connect.

Yes, I took the key out and waited until the interior lights went out which is about 10 minutes. Thought I did everything correctly. ?

@407Lou

My guess is you may have opened/closed the driver's door just before you connected the TC.
IF you do that you wake up UCONNECT and .....

UConnect must to be asleep when you do the install..

Read here for some caveats in regard to the TC. IF you are not careful you can throw a code and go into limp mode, etc... Do not change TC, modes while actively working the gas pedal..

https://www.jlwranglerforums.com/fo...r-setting-for-daily-driver.76405/post-1599454

In regard to your current CEL. Clear with a scanner..

Hint: Especially, a guy/gal running a TC, is wise to keep a scanner tool in the vehicle at all times... in case a code is inadvertently thrown... No scanner means no way to clear and get out of limp mode.

How far away was key?

In saying that, you just need to clear the code after its connected and it will be fine.
The key was in my house and the Jeep in the garage. Maybe 15 ft away. I know the keys have a pretty long range. Do you need to put them like down the street? LOL!

Yeah, I don't think I did. I was super careful about not closing the door during this whole process until I was finished with the install.

I am pretty anal about the work I do on my Jeep so I read as much as I can before I start any work. I've done everything myself on this Jeep from lift to lights to speakers. That said, I could have screwed something up, who knows.

So I did clear the CELs with a scanner. I let it sit for a while 30-60 minutes, came back, ignition on and they came right back. I never even fired up the engine, just got into Run without firing up.

I'm thinking I may have gotten a defective unit or cable harness. When I did power up the very first time, the TC display was in sport mode. I would have thought it would come up in Normal (factory) mode.

Maybe I'll just order another one and give it one more try...

Try disconnecting and then reconnecting the TC... to be sure connector is connected/seated properly. Locked in place ..

I was a tester of a few different brand TC's ..... and I did get one unit that was defective out of the box. Yes, you may have a problematic unit..
