Has anyone towed with their 4 door JL yet?? Pretty close to making a purchase of a Rubi. Will occasionally be towing a RZR 900s on an aluminum open trailer, probly be around 2500lbs. so if anyone out there has any experience so far with around this much weight, I'd like to know how the JL did. Thanx

I am interested in this as well. I started a thread a while back and didn't get any responses that truly pertained to your question. I hope you have more luck. I am interested in this as well since I will be pulling a boat and want to know how the JLU reacts and handles while under a load.

It is rated for 3500 lbs. I have seen others comment that they don't have any issue towing with their Jeep.

Is there anything specifically you are worried about being that you don't plan on exceeding the limit?

.

You might want to read at this thread before you order your JL. You'll want to decide if you want to add the factory tow package to your order. https://www.jlwranglerforums.com/forum/threads/hitch.3276/page-10#post-105637

The JLU I'm looking at has the factory tow package, My main concern is how the 3.6 handles the task, I assume that the new tranny will most likely result in a better tow experience, the powertrain towing on the highway is the main reason for the question. thanx

At highway speeds, engine power output is the least of your worries. Even big rig engines only make 300-500 HP.

Brakes, cooling, and sway stability are what really matter. With a short-ish wheelbase and modest brakes, no Wrangler is going to be a towing champ. But I doubt a 2500 lb trailer is going to be much of a problem, either.

You mentioned your trailer will weight approx. 2500 lbs. Your tongue weight needs to be 350# or less. Your JLU and it's 3.6L will do just fine towing that weight / with tongue weight within limits. Realize that proper loading of trailer is also important or you will spawn issues.

I've towed for thousands of miles with 2dr JK's and properly loaded trailers weighing right at 2,000 lbs. / with below 200# tongue weight. I've never had any issues. 2dr. is rated for 2,000 lbs and 200# tongue weight.

I have a small 5x8 trailer to tow my ATV with my JLUR and I can't even tell it's there. Pulls nicely and doesn't really affect performance. Installing the tow harness was a bit of a pain but it took maybe 3 or 4 hours and was a lot cheaper than paying for someone else to do it.

I'm just under the 3500 limit and seems to tow fine. I have the Rubicon as well.

This guy on a Facebook JL group overloaded the shit out of his and stated it towed fine. Despite having a massive buttload of tongue weight. lol

No issues here either. Our smoker weighs around 1800 (1/2 inch steel) but the tongue weight is high. You can tell its back there when doing hills etc but ran just fine

That backend is really squatting! How much weight do you think that is?
