I got the towing package because we are looking at off-road trailers. I'll look for an empty plug tomorrow, though I didn't see anything like that today; just that blue/white wire. Sooner than later, I'll need to figure it out. The Owner's manual has nothing about this.

I have installed them. When the manufacture prewirers and leaves a plug, then you just plug the controller in. Plug and tow. It seems that Jeep didn't do this which seems odd. Really the only reason to go to a 7 pin plug is for trailer brakes. I tow a T@B teardrop trailer with my JK that is around 2000# and has trailer brakes. Wire install on the JK was a bit of work. Trailer brakes are you friend.
We are assuming there is no plug up near dash to plug a controller into and yes I find that odd since they went to a 4/7 pin connector. Lets say there is no plug, would it be possible to use the AUX switch to hook it up?

I was assuming something like this:

Yes, but you use one hot lead to power brakes, and a smaller amperage hot to power controller that controls the hot lead to brake application. The smaller hot is usually switched with the key so that it is not always on.

She sells sea shells by the sea shore WHAT??

No seriously OK I get it. I also thought there was a place behind dash where the AUX switches are that you could do this smaller amp hot to power the controller but cannot say for sure since A. I am waiting on mine and B. I have never done it.

I just looked under the dash on the driver side and didn't find an empty plug. Doesn't mean it isn't there, just means I couldn't get my hand/arm positioned to find it with all the panels attached. Someone must have a service manual that would show the entire wire harness run.

I thought you just installed the wire harness from Mopar didn't you?

That wasn't me. CraigB just installed one; mine was factory installed. I was just reviewing the wire diagram that CraigB posted. It would appear the wiring harness stays on the passenger side of the jeep and enters through the firewall behind the glove box. It's possible there is a connection behind the glove box, but when I looked earlier, I only found the blue/white wire and the grouping of wires for the AUX connections, inside the jeep.

Thanks alot. Pretty sure that that is it. Pickups without factory brake controller but with factory tow package have had it like this picture show for quite awhile now. Somes times you have to add a fuse in the fuse box to make the "hot" wire that charges the breakaway battery hot. Seeing that plug is great.
Not sure what the blue wire on the passenger side is. Brake controllers have four wires just like the shown plug. The extra blue wire would make five. Hum?

@Craigb Did the Mopar wire kit you bought come with this brake controller connector?

There are no connectors with the kit for the brake controller just a long blue wire for the controller. I just tow a Sea Doo so I have no need
Why would you have gone to all that trouble to install a 7way plug for just a sea doo?

For those who don't know, a 7way is meant for a trailer with electric brakes and/or battery power. If all your trailer has is tail lights/signals, do yourself a favor and just tap into the tail light wires. FYI...

Digitalbliss because I’m not about to hack up my factory harness to save a 100 dollars. Also I don’t really like aftermarket parts they tend not to fit well or require some modifications.

I hear ya, although I wouldn't call splicing in 3 wires (left, right, tail) "hacking", but to each their own. I ordered the factory tow package with mine, so no hacking for me either.
