Hello all

I did a search, but nothing came up. I have a 2021 JLU Willys which obviously has the Rubicon shocks already. What would the rest of the Rubi suspension do for me?

By just adding the springs, does it lift it? If so does it lift it enough to run 35's one day?

Does it include sway bar links?

Would the take off suspension include a track bar?

Would I have to change the bump stops?

I seen some suggestions for people to go this way for just a moderate improvement. But don't know what it includes, or what exactly it would do for a Willys.

Thanks

Here's my best answers:

1) It would lift it, but probably not enough for 35s. Rubicons have the higher line fenders that let them run 35s.

2) Probably not, most lift kits are reusing the rear swaybar links in the front so you probably won't get the set

3) Again, probably not included in a lift kit so probably not taken off.

4) It probably wouldn't be necessary.

The springs are the only thing different on the rubicon vs the willy, everything else is the same. A 4dr willys won’t see much lift from a rubicon spring swap, unless you get the springs from a diesel, 392, or 4xe. In my opinion it’s more trouble than it’s worth when you can get the same performance with a set of 3/4” spacers for $100. Skyjacker offers a 1-1.5” kit that has better springs than any of the factory options for ~$600 which seems like a much better low lift option in my opinion. A rubicon swap from a 4dr to a 2 door sport will likely gain 1-2” and better shocks, but for a 4dr willys the gains don’t justify the effort to me.

I have heard that spacer are a very bad idea. They need o be tightened periodically, and I have heard many stories about spacers coming loose/off while driving.

You are thinking wheel spacers. That’s not what is referred to in this thread. Suspension spacers.

I kind suspected there wasn't that much benefit, thank you for confirming.

it does nothing...... willys come with the rubicon taller springs and shock setup plus the rock " silders".

if you are looking for just a small lift you can get a 2" lift for pretty cheap. i believe quite a few companys offer a 2" spring lift for aobut 800 buck range. simple to install

Springs AND the highline fenders which is how rubicons can fit 35s when everyone else gets 33s

swap the inner liners and run trim the fender like you do with the rubicon with the chop kit and get some 4.5" offset wheel you will be all good.

Just beware, if you put 4 door springs in a 2 door, the difference in spring rate to compensate for the weight difference will likely make the 2 door ride harder than if you got a spring height designed to lift the 2 door.

Most, if not all lift springs I've seen have a higher spring rate than any of the stock springs, unless you go with a dual or triple rate spring. The higher rate is how they provide the lift for the most part. A 2dr similarly equipped only weighs ~220 lbs less than a 4dr, do we change spring rates if a passenger gets in or out? Short of custom tuned/valved shocks, none of our suspensions are remotely that finely tuned be them factory or aftermarket generic kit.

I'm following this also. I've got a 2020 4 door Willy's running 285/75 (essentially 34s). I've also got a set of rubi springs in my garage waiting to be installed. I'd like 1 - 2 inches, but no more than that. I also don't want to mess up the ride and handling, so I was thinking the rubi springs, and Mopar lift kit LCAs. Now, I'm thinking maybe adding a 1/2 spacer.

Thoughts on this?

Thanks

I have the complete 1.5" factory lift from my new 2021 JLUR Extreme Recon option if you would be interested that was removed by the dealer as soon as it came off the truck. The Jeep came with 35" tires and I measured the difference between stock as delivered and when I added the 2.5" Mopar lift and I gained exactly 1" from the new lift. Thus I know the factory lift is ~1.5" to handle the 35" tires. I have all of the trailing arms, sway bar links, spring pads, longer red shocks, springs, and the stabilizer that are brand new.

Actually Willys DO NOT come with the taller Rubicon springs, only the Rubicon shocks, but at least you're halfway there, just need a spring set from the heaviest 4dr, and like @Zandcwhite mentioned, a set from a diesel Rubicon or 392 Rubi will net the most lift. Here's a thread on the 392 setup and last I checked the 392 springs were priced pretty well.
