So the Basil Hayden’s Toast is quite good. Not typically what I got for since it’s only 80 proof but an easy drinker none the less and a pleasure sitting Around the fire. @Bamabww if you can find this one, it’s tame enough to keep you interested and the flavor is complex enough to keep drinking.

Love it!! @Chocolate Thunder hooked up the Special Reserve for me! Florida doesn't see much of that stuff these days. I have never seen a bottle of Antique 107. I would love to get my hands on one of those. Enjoy man!

Glad to be able to help out a fellow bourbon drinker and Jeeper. Since I was able to acquire some of that Weller Special Reserve for you and for several other people that don’t have it easily available near them, I’ve started to notice that although it’s still available here and still no markup, I don’t see shelves full of it like I used to. Maybe supply is starting to dry up around here too.

That's unfortunate. I wonder if they are concentrating on pouring their focus into something else so to speak.

Staring at this forum
I think I just found my favorite thread of the forum. I've tried quite a few bourbons, but definitely looking forward to amazing suggestions from the crowd. To answer the initial post:

Daily: Moonrise Distillery - Single barrel. It's local and easy to come by.

Shelf: I dont have one, but I stock up on Wathen's when I can find it. To me, it is a great blend of smoky and sweet flavors.

I bought a bottle of Wathen's Cask Strength a few years ago in Lexington. It was fantastic!

Something new to try. I know nothing about it other than my guy said it got a couple decent reviews so it has been in demand lately. I try anything he hands me from the back room. If it sucks I will use it to water the plants ;-)

Oh yeah and tomorrow we are doing the "Ghost Tour" at Buffalo Trace. We have toured BT no less than a dozen times but never the Ghost tour.

Retired from Corrections....I have stories.
I was in a Kroger grocery store last night and as I walk past the liquor section, I see a young couple looking at bourbon. I casually say look up a little higher. They ended up picking up a bottle go Bulleit 10.

Retired and loving it.
I shared the list of whiskeys y'all recommended to me several days ago to my friend and he said He would help me get started. He has a number of bottles in his cabinet and gave me these two bottles. As you can see the Rebel Yell, one of his favorites, is nearly empty but the Woodford is almost full. He agreed with your recommendations but wanted me to try the Rebel Yell first. I tried it last night following his directions to put two or three ice cubes in the glass with two fingers of whiskey. It was a good taste. I don't know if I could distinguish different flavors but I enjoyed the drink. It probably took me an hour to drink it though! So my journey has begun.

Good for you. Keep in mind that no matter what anyone else likes or recommends, only you have your taste buds. You can try it rocks, neat, splash of water, soda, or however you like. I like a good whiskey sour which makes some “purists” gasp and clutch their pearls. ?

Also once you’ve tried a few and notice differences you’ll develop what you like and don’t. Don’t be afraid to do blind tastings of two that you’re interested in. Back to back tasting without knowing what it is is the truest way to judge one against another.

Cheers!
