Back up camera issue

Had the JLUR about five weeks now. Been awesome. I’ve driven it daily and my wife has driven it one time - about an hour ago to Home Depot and back. She swears she didn’t do anything but I just got in and went to back out of the driveway and the backup camera now doesn’t work. The screen is just back with the “check your surroundings” message at the top of the screen. I don’t even have the yellow/red/green lines. I went and looked at the camera and all looks ok but something is up. Any ideas?

I'm totally new to JL myself so FWIW. Is there a setting in the uconnect screen that has turned the camera off?

Not that I know of but I clicked through everything and couldn’t find one either. It still switches screens when in reverse but it’s just a black screen.

There is a screen off button on the dash. Maybe she thought it was the power button and turned it off.

I’d go verify the camera itself. Then I’d go into the Uconnect app for rear view camera to see if that works. If that didn’t work I’d disconnect and reconnect the battery after 5 minutes. Had a similar issue with my old truck a few years ago..

There is a thread on this in the issues section of this forum. Others, including me, have reported this issue. In my case, a few hours later it started working again.

Fca has been having issues with the JL cameras.... They're actually talking to us to switch suppliers from the current camera supplier

Well the update is that we were in my wife’s car for a few hours post what turned into an argument that she must have touched something. Got back and camera worked fine... Guess it will be a recurring issue until FCA find a fix?

Seems like it is a safety issue since it is mandated.

Hi mgrowc1,
If you notice this happening again you can try and soft reset your radio with the instructions I've provided below. If this concern continues to persist, please feel free to send a private message with additional details.

Soft Reset Instruction
1) Put your vehicle into the accessories mode (ACC or RUN)
**For keyless start (push-button) vehicles: push the start button twice without having their foot on the gas or brake pedal**

2) Hold down the Phone and voice recognition buttons, at the same time, for thirty seconds.

3) Let go of the buttons

4) Turn vehicle off

5) Open driver’s side door for thirty seconds (or until dash illumination goes black)

6) Close door

7) Restart vehicle

8) Let the media center load up and see if concern is still present
