Unfortunately, they all appear to exceed my towing capacity. Even the lowest dry weight is 2,360lbs.
These were made for minivan and small suv, the wrangler has the ability to tow 3500 with the tow package. I know quite a few people who tow an R-pod with a wrangler unlimited (jk) and those are a little heavier.

Just to add some more confusion to everything. I thought it was odd that I ordered after a lot of people on here and my car was in transit so I messaged jeep chat to ask about the status of my car and they informed me my status is D and there is no way my car can be in transit because it is not built. So I guess I will have to wait and see what happens.
So your Jeep is not built but is in transit...........oh :idea:, maybe your dealer ordered you the IKEA Edition which requires some assembly at home! :cwl:

These were made for minivan and small suv, the wrangler has the ability to tow 3500 with the tow package. I know quite a few people who tow an R-pod with a wrangler unlimited (jk) and those are a little heavier.
That's for the 4-door. The 2-door's towing capacity is only 2,000 lbs.

Dang, that sucks. For a vehicle about the size and weight of the grand Cherokee, I am still baffled as to why the tow ratings are so low.

Dang, that sucks. For a vehicle about the size and weight of the grand Cherokee, I am still baffled as to why the tow ratings are so low.
Wheel base. Seems short wheel base is great for the trails, but not so good for stability and towing.

The JLU has a wheelbase of 118.4”, the WK2 has a wheelbase of 114.8”. It has to be more than wheelbase as the Wrangler (Rubicon even more so) has a longer wheelbase, and about the same track width. Same engine and transmission also now.

I know spring rate and brakes come into play, but seems like a huge towing difference for such little differences.

Don’t get me wrong, I would rather have a Rubicon any day, that’s why I traded in my WK2 Trailhawk, but it would be awesome if the tow rating was a little higher to be able to use the Wrangler to tow a camper for some longer excursions.

Again, that's the 4-door wheelbase. The 2-door wheelbase is only 96.8".

The tow rating ranges from 3500 to 7200 lbs on a Grand Cherokee. My Trailhawk with the tow package was 6200 lbs. while the base tow rating is the same between the wrangler unlimited and Grand Cherokee, it goes up with the tow package and other options on the Grand Cherokee (Even more with a v8 or diesel, but I am not counting those as they are not current options on the wrangler) but remains flat on the wrangler.

I am looking to see why a Jeep Wrangler Unlimited, with a longer wheelbase, same engine and transmission, and with the tow package would still be 3500lbs. What is keeping the limit low? Once again, I fully accept it, and purchased it anyways, just wondering what is setting the upper limits.

Wheel base, soft coil springs, solid axles. You can't build a platform that excels off road and also tows well.

You can't take a suspension that's designed for articulation and flex, and tow a bunch of weight with it. Your trailer would wander all over the place and actually be dangerous.

FWIW-mine caught a rail car last night. initial delivery date was reported to be April 4-8 and now it is April 9-13. I have been told to expect the train ride to take 2 weeks and the truck ride to the dealer 5 days. That would put it right at 4-12.

Up to this year’s punk’n, what’s your previous favorite Wrangler orange color? My wife currently has a 2015 in Sunset Orange. She loves it. That is, until her punk’n JL Sport S arrives. Lol
Wanted Sunset had to settle for Baja. I loved the Mango Tango. I have to see the Punk'n in person before I can say which one I like better. I did not like the orange they did back in 2011 or 2012? I forget the name but it was a bit of a copper color to me more than a real orange.
