I think he's talking about wind buffeting in the Jeep which can be common . Does this only happen at higher speeds? Are you driving with only the rear windows down? Sometimes cracking open a front window or turning on the recirculation can help too.

Yes that is what he is talking about. The thread I linked has others talking about it as well. He is in NY I highly doubt he is riding with the windows down / cracked.

Yes the thread you posted is what I was talking about. Thank you. No fix for it but it is what it is. Thank you.

Another thing, what tire pressure are you guys running on highway?

I had this after removing/ replacing my freedom panels. It went away the next time I removed/ replaced them.

That may be irrelevant, being I only noticed it with strong cross winds on the highway, and haven't had the same conditions since.

I have to wonder if this is a result of them making the freedom panels easier to remove and not held down as securely. I have yet to take delivery, but if I have to seal the panels on, I will get rid of the buffeting. I took the hard top off of my current jk 1 time, and that was to remove the soft top that I never used. Doesn't help anyone who wants to be able to take the top off though.

If anything I feel it would have more to do with them being lighter by 20%

That would be fairly easy to test. Adding weight temporarily would be easy.

That may be a contributor. I think it was @FatBoy01 that mentioned in another thread that removing them in the cold as it is here in the northeast could be a cause with the seals not sealing correctly. They are more stiff in this cold weather. Even if people have not removed them, somebody at the dealer could have for inspection? Typically people are not removing them in this weather but with the excitement of the new JL I am sure almost everyone has popped them off to check things out.

My ā€˜08 JKU has had this from the start. Happens with rear windows both open the same amount and both front windows closed. Open a front window or open a rear one more than the other and it stops. Play with it, you’ll find it.
It’s a Jeep thing.

Although this is true and can be reproduced in any four door vehicle I don't believe these guys are experiencing the issue with any windows open.

I get it as well. Drove up to Wyoming last week and it sounded like a helicopter was in the cab. I plan on taking it into the dealership sometime in the next few weeks to get it checked out.

I’ve been all over that ā€œhard top wind noiseā€ thread, but that one leans toward the windshield area air leak type noise, although some mention helicoptering.
I guess until I get mine I’ll stop guessing what people are hearing.

From my experience, that's a car thing. We call it the "Vortex" when just a back window is open. My girls will do it to mess with me....Ohhhhhh noooooooo... Not the Vortex!!!!!!
