They're basically the same. The Autostop Eliminator is just cheaper.

No. They serve one purpose only - remembering the state of the ESS button.

SmartStopStop was life changing. ESS just worked terribly, at least in a stick JL. No fun to have the engine turn off right when you hit the clutch to start from a stop and have the engine stay off. Crazy annoying and borderline unsafe.

I leave my SSS module plugged in all the time, even when taking to the dealer for service and here in Texas we have vehicle inspections and when plugging into the OBDII port all info passes thru without issues so no need to remove which is a plus for me

The Autostop Eliminator can also be left connected all the time. However, it is not (and nor is the Smart Stop/Start module) a security gateway bypass.

That is correct it is not a security gateway bypass and pretty much plugs in the same way as auto stop eliminator
