It’s hard to believe or trust anyone that recommends or pushes Amsoil. I ended up buying their severe gear for my diffs. But all of there info is either internally produced marketing or comes from someone that is a retailer in their pyramid scheme. That marketing structure alone makes me not trust it about the same as advocare.

There is no "pyramid scheme". Pyramid schemes are illegal and quickly shut down. AMSOIL has been in business for 47 years. In addition to some of their motor oils tested and approved by Porsche, Mercedes and VW, they have 42 that are certified by API. Most of their comparison tested is performed by certified independent laboratories using ASTM methodology and results never disproved by any other oil company.

Amsoil is top shelf. I've used it for years in certain applications. Severe gear 75w110 is in my front diff, 75w140 rear diff and signature series ATF4 in my trans and transfer case. I just prefer Redline in the motor due to the higher moly/zinc content.

I’m sorry. “Multi Level Marketing” scheme. Same thing. Same as advocate or that jewelry thing my wife joined to get a “wholesale discount”.

Multi Level Marketing (not a scheme) and Pyramid Schemes are very different.
The fact is, AMSOIL is not like any MLM company and is not really MLM in the traditional sense. There is no category that neatly fits the AMSOIL business. AMSOIL is a direct-sales hybrid. There is a network-marketing aspect to the AMSOIL business, but many aspects of AMSOIL do not align with traditional MLM businesses.
The Retail, Commercial and Catalog Programs are prime examples. Those types of programs don’t exist in typical MLM businesses.

Are you an Amsoil vendor?

I retired as a chemist for Shell Oil 16 years ago where AMSOIL outperformed every oil we tested. I have been an AMSOIL Independent Executive Direct Jobber providing AMSOIL, Wix, Donaldson and Mann products to over 460 accounts at wholesale for 16 years. I bought my first Wrangler in January, 2020.

Thanks for the reply, you do seem to know the product & company quite well.
FWIW I typically use Pennz Platinum (not Ultra) for most of my vehicles over the years, always had good UOAs @ Blackstone w/ 6k OCIs. I just got an old 4runner that I got SuperTech High mileage so we'll see how that does.
Have a friend that deals Amsoil but it's more a matter of convenience just loading up on oil where I get all my other crap, lol.
This youtube "Project Farm" has a good series over there, no doubt you've seen them~

Amsoil uses PAO base-oil from guess who? Exxon Mobil. They have their blend of additives and such. I wouldn't dispute the quality of the oil. Only the silly marketing. The way they do it really turns me off. It is a boutique oil and will remain so with their business and marketing practices, IMHO.

Actually, AMSOIL gets their PAO from ExxonMobil Chemical and other chemical companies. Same with their Group V synthetics. What "silly marketing"? AMSOIL is the largest privately owned synthetic oil company in the world and the largest provider of synthetic wind turbine gear oils. I wouldn't call that a boutique oil. They market to enthusiasts who want the best.

First, like I said, Exxon Mobil.

Second, look around and see the way this stuff is hawked. Like I said, it is like having a brother in law pushing Amway and saying things like "recommended by Porsche." I'm on a number of automotive forums and the way Amsoil sellers push it is all similar and is generally looked upon as silly.

It is a boutique oil, by my definition. You buy it from independent sellers or specialty shops and it is not mass retailed. That's a boutique oil. It doesn't make it bad. I view Redline the same way and it is also outstanding oil. I've never seen Amsoil at a retail store.

Btw, Amsoil also has only a few hundred employees. That may be the largest privately owned oil company, but that's not large, by any stretch. I'm not arguing that large is better. But that statement once again highlights the silly marketing I'm referring to.

Just my opinion. If you think it isn't silly, go right on with it. It is a free country, or at least the illusion of one in 2020.And just to be clear, it is also my opinion that it is outstanding oil. I wouldn't hesitate to put it in my Jeep or my Mercedes.

Like I said, ExxonMobil Chemical AND other chemical manufacturers. I didn't know Amway is recommended by Porsche. I know that Porsche recommends using oil on their approved oil list, which AMSOIL is. And Mercedes says "recommends" on their tested and approve list that includes AMSOIL.

You can also buy AMSOIL direct from AMSOIL, auto parts stores, garages, Dealerships, hardware stores and many others. Where in Indiana are you? I can provide a list of retail stores in your area.

AMSOIL has hundreds of employees and additional in other countries. AMSOIL also has thousands of Independent Dealers like myself in the USA.

AMSOIL was the 5th best selling synthetic oil in small quick lubes in the US, tied with QuakerState and ahead of Havoline. https://www.syntheticoils.us/Files/...s_market_share_fastlube_market.pdf?zo=1181889

More Amsoil marketing literature. "5th best selling synthetic oil in quick lubes in the US". Sounds alot better than 4% market share.

It then goes on to tout all the other Amsoil products.

Let's be transparent. Are you an Amsoil dealer?

I Googled Syntheticoils.us articles, btw. Everything comes up Amsoil. Hmmm.

Want to discuss again Amsoil's silly marketing? You are giving us a 400 level course on it right now.
