Installed the full kit on my Wrangler. I had this installed by a shop on my previous Jeep a few years back and they had gouged my door, then dented and chipped the door sill...I thought I'd be saving time having a shop do a professional install..how wrong I was. Anyways, on my new Jeep decided I would do this myself! I went to my local Harbor Freight and picked up:
  • Reciprocating saw
  • Metal blade
  • Metal files
  • Black gloss paint inhibitor spray
  • E12 Torx socket
  • 2 moving blankets for protection
  • Drill bits (including a 3/8)
All in I was at like $80 for tools!

I set out to disconnect both batteries, unbolted the seat from the Jeep and lifted the front to access the wires underneath to disconnect them, then removed the headrest, brought the seat back all the way up and easily removed the seat. With the seat placed upside and protected with the moving blankets, I installed the cutting fixture from DDI, set out to hack up my brand new seat rails with the reciprocating saw. Then I drilled the two necessary holes to attach the new DDI lower brackets. I filed away any sharp edges, painted the metal and the seat was done. I installed the front Seat Jackers that raise the front of the seat. Then I carefully reinstalled the seat, plugged it back in, bolted it down and voila! A 100% improvement in seating position and head room.

Nice work! This is one of my favorite mods in the Jeep. The first time I drove a JL I was surprised the top of the digital cluster screen was cutoff from my view. I tried to lower the seat but it was all the way lowered. Was glad to find this solution. More comfortable seating angle and I can see the entire cluster screen.

for me, i installed the whole kit, and was even more uncomfortable than ever. removed the front brackets and that was perfection. with the front jackers in place my legs would go to sleep and get very uncomfortable

I'm having the same issue with uncomfortable legs. Been using the Fixed Seat Jackers that lift the front of the seat 1.25 inches for about a month now. I do like the angle it puts the seat at. But for me, it raises the front of the seat just a bit too much and bites into the back of my legs. I believe my solution will be to replace these with the Shorty Seat Jackers which only lift the front of the seat by .75 inches.

I have the jacker in the front and am looking at the slammers. I'm 6'4 so its a tight fit. Only concern I have is clearing the amp mounted under the seat. How tight is it under there.

This approach gets to the same place yet looks completely OEM - no seat frame cutting. And...way cheaper. For the true DIYer.

Looks like it only raises the front and doesn’t lower the rear. I needed the rear lowered to have better head clearance and see the top of the digital cluster screen. To your point though it is a cheaper solution if you’re only looking to raise the front.

I remember wondering about the outsized effect of the 1.25" jackers after I installed them on the driver's seat in my JLU. That said, I eventually acclimated to them, to the point that sitting in any other seat makes it feel uncomfortably flat.

Comfort is subjective. How each of us are built may have something to do with it. The 1.25 inch jackers are a good match for my lanky 36" inseam.

If the $100 price of the Shorty Jackers is off-putting, know that you can experiment with stacked washers to get the same result for a fraction of the price. I'd have done the same thing, but I was able to buy my regular Seat Jackers for a song from a fellow Jeep owner.

Adding this to my list of mods for my Jeep!

At 6 ft. 5 in. tall, that's one of my biggest complaints about my Wrangler; MY SEAT WON'T GO ANY LOWER!!! 😭

Can we get some photos of you sitting in it before and after?

And then maybe one of you sitting in it with the door closed so I can get a real good idea as to just how low you're sitting!?
