Hmm, about 50% of jeeps have a zerk installed behind the steering wheel. I recommend a conventional whisky applied straight from the bottle, although sometimes this makes it more abrasive. In that case I recommend Zima if you can still find it (white claw as a last resort) a straw can come in handy.
Spelling error, that’s “jerk” instead of “zero”?

I have two. JKS sway discos. Nothing factory. Nothing on the lift I chose. My grease gun sits in the corner now, lonely. Weeping. So sad.

Wait… you originally asked where any fitting might be… then people answered that a stock Jeep doesn’t have any… then you claim it does but can’t show where???

Ummm… ok?? ??‍♂
2022 Rubicon JL diesel stock..zerk on front driveline, confirmed on 9-19-2024.

I went through 3 Harbor Freight grease guns before I got a working one. Just throwing that out there.

I’m just about to install the Motobilt tire carrier with zerk fittings on the hinges. Besides this grease gun, what brand/type of grease would you recommend for this application? Thanks

Since that application is likely to ooze where you can get it on you, I like to use a white grease. Superlube makes some white greases that are not so messy. There may be other "food grade" greases that are white too. The application you have is pretty low speed/pressure, so anything will work. I just hate getting that black grease on things like this.

I run the marine stuff unless I'm greasing something that requires a specific rating.

I haven't used the specific KY fitting that comes with the McNaught, but I really like the Lock-N-Lube I have. Stupid expensive for what it is, but it works.

Just looked up my gun, it's a grease tek pistol grip, and it leaks over time. Would not recommend.

I do have a mini one with a hard piped needle zerk fitting that I keep in the trailer. You can push grease in a standard zerk with a needle as well.

I think they all leak after a while. The grease oils separate from the solids and run out wherever they can find a path. I keep mine in big plastic bags.

First Autozone gun was bad, second works. The McNaught works best.

Thanks, that's exactly what I need. My POS Husky grease gun leaks all over the place. I have to keep it in a special box, and use it with rags wrapped around it.

Finally stopped procrastinating and used the McNaught grease gun with some Superlube full synthetic translucent white on the Motobilt tire carrier hinges and no more squeaking. After using a few POS grease guns in the past I consider this a small victory.

I see this is an old thread that has been revived twice but my favorite mod to any grease gun is a LockNLube coupler. It locks onto the zerk so all the grease goes in vs squirting out from around the zerk.

I like the Lincoln 1134 Pistol Grip Grease Gun. A pistol grip gun is easier to use than one with a long lever. It only needs one hand. I suppose a clogged/stuck zerk or a bushing full of hard dried up grease might need the force of a long lever gun but that is a rare case for me and I have one around for that.
