As always, mention Yeti coolers anywhere and a debate follows. I will simply say this. I have a Yeti Tundra and an Hopper 2/40. I use these for multiple days of rafting in Colorado and Utah each summer, Jeeping and mountain biking in the desert often, backcountry work in the Colorado Rockys (winter and summer) where I live. I have no connection to Yeti but I am on a mountain rescue team so I get a discount from the company. It is by far one of the best overall pieces of gear I have purchased, and I have a lot of gear between bikes, mountaineering/ski gear, water gear, hunting gear, etc. The durability is truly incredible and I have had no issues with them. The Hopper 2/40 fits the JL perfectly and is really my day to day go to for mountain biking, hiking, etc. I have it biner'ed to the back and I am very happy with it. I'll try to post a pic. I don't know how many other coolers I have gone through over the years. The tundra is many years old, has been used extensively, and still looks brand new. I could care less about NRA folks shooting them or blowing them up. Do with your property what you will.

Can you direct me to where you discovered this fact? I’m interested in seein it.
I've seen a lot of articles on the Web and in offroad mags about it. But, there's also a cool video on YouTube where a guy cuts two coolers open to actually show it. Let me see if I can find that...

Here ya' go.

As the old saying goes... "if you don't have anything nice to say (about Yeti)..."

Yeti killed off an old legacy discount program that happened to include the NRA. I’d point out who I think the real snowflakes are in this whole controversy, but I’ll be nice.
Not exactly the whole story. Yeti's spin was interesting, but their timing was problematic, at a minimum.

I'm sure they are excellent products, but there are LOTS of good options in coolers. Dumb move on their part when there is plenty of competition. They've suffered greatly for it, too.

Yeti 45...$299....Warranty, 5 years.
Pelican 50...$254....Warranty, lifetime.

Just one quick example.

And they can continue to......

My Yeti cooler does leak water through the lid seal and soaks the rear carpet once the ice melts some and the water sloshes around. I called Yeti and was told that is normal! Then put it away for good after Yeti's NRA diss. No more Yeti stuff in my jeep.
You must first put a bucket inside any cooler , to hold the ice . You can get rectangular buckets at the hardware store , put it inside any cooler , and fill the bucket with ice from the outside . Presto : no leaks .

Here's another great option....Otterbox. They claim longer ice retention by 4 days over Yeti, and they also have a lifetime warranty. Theirs also costs less...$262 minus a discount when ordered from their website. I think it is 10%, plus you can get an additional 5% if you are enrolled in Ebates, so about 40 bucks off makes it look like a great deal.

Truly, I'm not a guide or long range overlander, so a cheap cooler meets my needs. Still, all these different coolers are pretty impressive. I'd guess ice can't go 10 or even 14 days if you open the darned thing, though. Lol!

Ok, here are a couple more. By the way, the majority, if not all, of these are US made, which is great!

Orca...10 day ice retention and lifetime warranty. Their 58 quart cooler runs 299.

This one may be the bad boy of them all...Canyon. Their 35 quart QT cooler keeps ice up to 18 days! They have a lifetime warranty. Their 55 quart cooler is 229 bucks and has unique snag proof latches.

...I just can't stop! Lol!

I have a cooler. It’s called the mountains, where I live. Lots of snow that lasts all year. Keeps my drinks cold.

You won't get any ice retention , and the melted water will leak , if you don't put a rectangular bucket inside to hold the ice : that is the Most Important step . Ice is Never supposed to go directly into the inside of the cooler .

You forgot to mention the 10,800 sq. ft. cooler , which is so cold you need to have an ice pick to dig out your can of beer .
