After updating components x, y, & z on the 21 2dr sport 3.6L, I’ve started looking at exhausts. But hah, once again eTorque bites me in the arse.

Anyone have any current advice/ideas and a for a full time daily/part time off-roader? Looks like the previous threads on this dried up a couple years ago.

Looking for high clearance, no-drone, with a low rumble rather than shouty voice.

I actually took delivery of a Borla Climber Touring (which I think would have been perfect) before I realized the fitment issue.

Would prefer cat-back, but maybe that’s just because I incorrectly think an axel-back will still get whacked dropping off a rock.

The new Magnaflow Overland muffler looks nice. Otherwise, the high-tuck mini mufflers from Injen and aFe are good choices.

Short of going without a muffler at all, I'm really not sure what's to be gained by swapping the cat-to-muffler pipe. There are some early dump systems that replace that part completely, but will be much louder and have exhaust fumes exiting closer to the cabin. As you've found, swapping that pipe with a small bullet-style muffler is problematic with the eTorque battery being in the way.

thanks. Been looking at the MF, although can’t get the picture of a French horn out of my mind (someone else’s joke).

After listening to different sound clips of that muffler, I'd probably end up just using it with the cap installed without the extra horn piece. All the configs sound just like stock to my ears. Just thought it would be nice to add later on if it had any drone or seemed too noisy.

And it's not like you or anyone else is really going to see it. In traffic, you might see just a slight bit of the muffler's underside and tailpipe when sitting in a low car, but otherwise, you'd only ever see the extra horn piece when it's up on a lift or maybe coming off of a very steep rock.
