I took the first trip in the 2025 X rubicon. A hard trail with a lot of rock for 3.4 miles in and then 3.4 back out. The shocks held up well for about 3/4 of the trail then became hot and noticed a good bit of fade in them. With less than 1000 miles on the Jeep it was a hard decision but decided to upgrade to the Bilstein 8100 series shocks.

Good move. The OE red shocks that came on my Rubicon were garbage compared to the Bilsteins.

But, what about ride quality for a daily driver?

I like the ride with the 8100's. Is it better - hard to say because I was replacing three leaking OE red shocks with brand new Bilsteins, so yeah they were better, but without a control test against new red shocks - hard to say. Worst case - they ride the same as OE.

On my power wagon I replaced the OE 4600 bilsteins with 5160s and the rides was significantly better all around. I am sure is will be the same with this upgrade to the JL.

5k miles on my rubi with 35s and am considering the same scenario. I think Jeep valved the rubicons with 35s too soft.

New Bilstein 8100s installed. The ride is a little firmer than stock which is what I wanted. They do have compression and rebound adjustabilty but I think they come from factory set at 7 out of 10 on both setting. It feels good to me so far. These should never Fade now for the kind of wheeling I do. I also added some Metal Cloak rear shock skids.
