I'm sorry if my question takes the thread in slightly different direction from that of the OP: who seems to have heard good opinions based on her original thoughts that she's appreciative of.

Can someone please explain the process by which a White Wrangler might yellow over time, and what can be done to prevent/minimize or even address it after it's happened?

Thanks.

It's not clear exactly what is happening here but usually it's either oxidation or a reaction with ultraviolet light. Doesn't affect the paint, but it affects white plastic components.

Some waxes can protect against it, to a point. Fixing it afterward is harder. If it's a fundamental problem within the plastic itself, then it's becoming yellow through-and-through. Nothing you can do. If it's surface oxidation or UV damage it's surface only. You can either abrade the surface to clean material, or use some products that can supposedly remove the yellowing layer. Effectiveness is temporary and debatable.

I have white and JUST read a thread here where someone talked of it yellowing....(yikes, not mine yet)...so maybe in your cloud there's a silver (or at least granite) lining...…

you could get the rig wrapped if you want to try out different things.

Besides, I'm bringing this technology to market in about 50 years;)

Beats the Idea I had for a mechanical nose picker...

The granite is a pretty color! I was debating between ordering my Rubicon in the Sting Gray or the Firecracker Red and I ended up going with Firecracker Red and am happy I picked that color since it fits me :) I originally wanted the Bright White lol I changed my mind a few times but made sure I knew exactly what I wanted when I placed my order!

I feel your pain! lol

Originally I wanted the Granite. My wife vetoed that right away....my F-150 is pretty much the same color, so she said nope. She wouldn't let me have white since her car is..... Black is out since we will be in AZ soon enough (never mind I told her what's to hold heat in with the top off?). The red looks orange at angles, the Punk'n is nice, the sting ray looks like the rectum of an elephant (to me)....blue is nice but not as much with the red trim....Yellow? Nope, I'm not trying to drive a short bus. Silver? Sure, but everyone has one....so yeah....I'm going for the Mojito! I can not wait for deployment to end so I can get her! lol

I have a white JK and ordered a Mojito, white got boring for me. It never showed scratches which was great but mine also yellowed a lot due to the iron graphite fallout from the blast furnace at work
I have to agree here. I loved my previous white car for the past 4 years. in the end though white got boring. Very boring. It hid all the lines of the car - not that a Jeep is a slick Porsche but still it has some cool lines in it (the bulge of the hood).

Crystal Granite is a really nice color - it does hide dirt well, manages to show the lines of the vehicle perfectly, and is probably the most popular color choice.
