For the manual transmission recall of the clutch pressure plate, do they replace the friction disc in addition to the pressure plate. The letter says they replace the clutch assembly which seems like it would include more than just the pressure plate. I'm just curious what all they do besides the pressure plate and software update.

they replace everything including flywheel
That sound good to me. Wouldn't make much sense to just replace the pressure plate. I'm waiting for the dealership to get back to me.

If you haven't read through the clutch recall thread I suggest you take a look. If you're stock you're most likely okay. If you have regeared, larger tires, or plan for those I'd look into an aftermarket clutch and apply for reimbursement. A lot of folks are having the new software trigger false transmission errors putting the Jeep in limp mode

Just got my Wrangler back from the dealership, and it feels better than ever! I would highly suggest anyone getting that fix. Hopefully their technician is as good as the one that worked on my Jeep. And even after owning a 2018 Cherokee Limited, and a 2020 Cherokee Trailhawk, and driving their 2023 Cherokee, it was so nice to get back in my Wrangler.

From the video of the tech doing the service, he mentioned different transmission errors. One fix was using the Jeep PCM tool and using this function. He said it wasn't documented anywhere in the procedures, but it seemed to have fixed it.

I'm taking mine in next weekend. Hopefully no issues! And hopefully they don't complain about my skid plates...

I'm going to jump into this and let in on a prototype clutch that I was able to help a company out with (testing in my rig that is).

A local company now has a replacement clutch for the JL. I can't share the exact details yet, but 5mos with nothing but good things to say about it. "It's the way a clutch SHOULD feel and behave". Not only did I notice this right away, but my wife said these exact words when she drove it. It's FUN again,

We just got back from a 3500 mile trip to Wyoming and doing the Big Horn Jamboree. HUGE improvement offroad with nothing but positive performance.

I'll come back with details when I've been given the go-ahead.

Regardless, I highly recommend an aftermarket option.

Do they replace the flywheel as part of this clutch upgrade or can you not say?

They did. It's heavier, but not as heavy as some of the other aftermarket options out there. For me - it's right in the sweet spot

I just scheduled my 19A recall today for September 26th. I have a 2021 JLUS purchased March 2021 and have 27,500 on the odometer. I figure I'll give the 19A clutch a run and if it gives me another 27K of reasonable performance go aftermarket once I'm out of the powertrain warranty.

Hey @Powelligator
Here's some more info.

I've read all the horror stories around the recall and issues with re-geared Jeeps

I was turned on to South Bend Clutch as I'm local and was able to Beta test their JL solution. I have to say that I'm flat-out impressed.

I've had the prototype about 6500 over the last 5mos. I've noticed a huge improvement and my wife has as well. It's like driving my old TJ - the clutch is great! Feel and function like a clutch should.

I swung by their page today to see if it was available for sale and it looks like they're having a give-away that goes for the rest of the month if anyone is interested:

It's even more expensive than everybody else's proven solutions. If somebody wins one great but there is no way I'd buy it.
