A floodlight with a motion sensor that turns on when someone walks by or in your driveway should be enough to keep the curious away.

I bought two Faraday bags on amazon. they look like envelopes. when I am home I place the key fob inside. Sitting in the drivers seat the jeep does not detect the key fob inside the faraday bag. Two bags for $12.00. I can only hope it works
I think if they were skimming the key with a relay your Jeep would already be gone.

Thankfully it seems like they were just checking for unlocked doors and easy targets. Still sucks though. My Jeep has been broken into and they took something like a screwdriver and jammed it into the lock which broke it and then opened the door. Then did the same thing to the lock inside on the glove box. I never bothered replacing the glove box but I did replace the door lock and bought a spare lock for when it happens again.
They're not duplicating keys. Up here, living close to a major port, we have literally had an epidemic of stolen JLU. They open hood, pull fuse for horn and head unit. Gain access to passenger side and then use same computer dealer has, to make a new key using STAR rail behind glove box. Gone in less than 5 min.

I have been installing kill switches off the push start for my local club for like 2 years. Hood locks only slow them down and now theyre cutting horn wires before they open hood. The kill switches are the only thing that will stop them as they could have a key in hand and it won't start.

Thank you. After many years of wondering, this explains how jeeps are getting stolen. I've always wondered what the process is just to try to prevent it. I'm surprised nobody has developed a lock for the fuse box under the hood.

I've also seen Tazer has an option to put a code in to start. I'm interested, but all I've seen on the forums lately is negativity with the tazer. A lot of it though is people blaming it while it was usually something else. Nonetheless, it's an option available.

@Dyolfknip74 nailed it. They're not using a key fob relay; they are creating a new key using a factory like tool then driving the Jeep away. Last time I looked for information it is a couple of minutes at most and the tool is $2500. Profession theft rings.

What are you do is

- get a hood lock, even though is can be cut it will slow things down.

- get the RFHM update, which prevents the creation of a new key.

- look at a GPS tracker Pro thieves can block the cellular but again security is about layers.

- there are remote battery disconnects Easy to find and disable, but again another layer.

- and remote kill switches that replace a relay in the vehicle. There also can be found on aliexpress for $10 and ebay for $30.

- finally the traditional simple toggle switch wired into something vital like the fuel pump still has a use.

I did look at making a metal cover for the star connector in the glove box, but there is not enough clearance. Plus I believe the star connector in the right rear is easy to access too.

If I parked my Jeep on the street or lived in an apartment complex close to the border I would consider at least the hood lock and RFHM update.

They probably tried to open the door. If it was locked, that's probably why they walked away.

Here's where everybody should put their scaredy-cat hats on and go install The Club and motion-sensing lights all around their Jeeps, with kill switches, and then talk about how you're heavily armed.

The battery under the hood is worth about $10 to someone looking to feed a drug habit. There's nothing else they want under there. It's rare, but someone could open the hood, cut the cables, undo the bolt on the tray, and walk off with the battery.

Someone looking for a similar wheel, or to collect a set of similar wheels could spin the lugs off the spare and walk away with that.

A relay attack on the key could help a thief gain access to the vehicle. That's what they want. Either for something inside the vehicle, or for the vehicle itself. For most cars, there's a vulnerability with the OBD-II port where the thieves plug in their hack device and basically program a new key, just like a dealer can. Automakers are starting to address this, but not all of them have. It's not a device they use, it's software on a regular laptop or tablet and any jerk on the internet can get it if they want it badly enough.

Jeeps are also really easy to put on a flatbed or just tow away. The transfer case can be put in neutral from under the vehicle or they just drag it on.

That's all very creative. We've had our Jeep(s) broken into, twice.

The first was a 2-door Wrangler X with a soft top that we left parked until 2am in a not-so-great part of Seattle. Knowing this, we left the doors unlocked and nothing in it. Guess what - to gain access, they ripped off one of the side windows, presumably before trying the door handle.

The second time was a 4-door Rubicon parked behind a bar in Georgetown. Three vehicles in a row were burgled, and they simply smashed the passenger window so they could go through the glove box and console.

Kill switch is the way to go. A neighbor also installed a back-up beeping device for an audible heads-up if it gets pulled out of his driveway.
Keep in mind, around here, all of the immobilization tricks in the book mean nothing to someone who REALLY wants your vehicle. You'll find some dudes lurking in the bushes or a car parked nearby waiting for you to show up. Then it's a knife or gun in your face and you enable the vehicle. Or you get followed home and they get you in your driveway. If they want it, it's theirs. Be safe out there.

Not sure on your side of the line but on our side they got it under control, just took 1 year...
I have one of my neighbor got is car stolen 3 times. Two time it was found in a parking with some part missing and the last time, he forgot to put is key in is faraday box, the thief was not able to leave is driveway because of a steering bar lock. Funny how this device that was a joke back in the 80-90 is now actually presenting some thief. I guess that is what you get when you send a boy to do a man job.

just pull your fuel pump fuse or install a kill switch for that fuse https://amzn.to/3WyB1GF
it's much cheaper than the relay kit

plus you get the added bonus of your starter making noise when thieves try to crank it but it won't start. Also replace your grill with the metal mesh grills. https://amzn.to/46NnPUv

It took a good while to drill a hole through it for my hood lock https://amzn.to/46NXqpE Jeep Wrangler JL Wrangler Break-Ins 1760201000908-31

Made an appointment to have the RFHM done to the Willys this week. I was told it only takes 15 minutes and can be done while I'm waiting. I have another suggestion for everyone, I purchased a cheap $40 car cover from Amazon for the jeep. It only takes a couple of minutes to put it on and take it off. Definately will slow them down and it's also a 6 Spd with a club on the wheel.

Tazer pin lock is defeated by removing the Tazer from OBD port.

Ya, unfortunately our Montreal port is full of corruption. We have literally seen Ontario plated jeeps on the African version of Kijiji (popular for sale site here in Canada)

It sucks.

I just start an argument with my wife. Sleeping in the Jeep with a bad attitude is an amazing theft deterrent, gym workout, and a start up for Only Fans if you sleep naked.
