I wondered if anyone had information on when we can buy the 4xe in the UK? I’ve asked Jeep UK a couple of times but had no reply.

Seems like in mainland EU that’s all you can order.

I’m ready to get one as it suits my needs perfectly.

Has anyone heard specific news?
Thanks in advance.

Dear Mr X,

Thank you for contacting Jeep and for your interest in our products.

Further to your e-mail, regrettably, the Jeep Wrangler 4xe PHEV will not be released in the UK market. However, the Jeep Renegade 4xe PHEV is now available to order.

Thanks for the info, at least you got a reply ;)

That's a real weird decision. I assume they didn't engineer for RHD...

The issue is that you are no longer harmonized with the rest of Europe. The type approvals needed for a Plugin hybrid do not carry over from what they needed to do in the EU.
I have a customer currently who is also planning to drop the plug in plans for the UK.
The costs are non-trivial.

The Wrangler 4xe still isn’t available in any right hand drive markets afaik, whether this is a design issue or market specific matter is unclear. I suspect lack of ev demand in the off road segment in bigger rhd markets like Australia means it won’t be available anytime soon.

Appears to be sold in some right hand drive markets like Japan, as an lhd car.

Some mixed messages in the U.K. motoring press re the 4xe becoming available with the 2024 MY release. I’m not hopeful.

Keen to replace my U.K. 2016 petrol JK but have been hanging on for 4xe or Hurricane, neither of which I expect to ever happen.

Plan B looking more likely ; 392 Rubi from the sort of official U.K. dodge importer

With Bauer Millett long gone, who is the sort-of-official importer to the UK now?

A few dealer names on the Dodge U.K. site depending on your location although Jeep references have dropped off recently.

Unity Jeep nr Oxford openly sell the Gladiator for example ( they are also a Jeep U.K franchise )

Clive Sutton also, who have significant Jeep heritage in the U.K sell the 392, they supply Dodge too although seem to have dropped off the approved list of late.

Personally I’d happily drive a left hand drive car if it meant more choice

Were they the guys that were trying to sell a LHD 392 import for £100,000+ last year? ?

Although you’ll be pleased to know they dip to GBP 99,500 with 800 miles on the clock, lol.

I’d use someone other than Sutton’s personally

The 392 is pricey in the US though.

I would have zero confidence in most of the UK Jeep dealerships (aka Fiat dealerships) or Jeep UK to support the 4xe or 392.

From my woeful experience they couldn't sort out basic problems on my 2.2 diesel JLU.

In fact, it wouldn't surprise me if we saw Jeep disappearing completely from the UK market in the near future.

My Wrangler vehicle experience has been faultless; now at 7 years old. However, dealer experience has always been a service only outlet and has been competent but has left me , as an enthusiast, completely cold.

For sure Jeep is a niche brand in the UK; I think sales this year are about 1:40th of VW, 1:15th of Land Rover for example. But they haven’t yet got to the fewer but better dealer model.

My brother in law who lives in Derby commented on having to take his Alpine to Solihull for a service; we are in the same boat or worse.

I’d jump at a 4xe from the Jeep dealer network because it would work for my driving pattern but I’m close to favouring a 392 from a specialized authorised importer

Or there is the Grenadier, which I like the look of.

True. There is little reason in Europe to stick to the Wrangler as an offroad platform. Unlike the US, we do not really have the aftermarket support. Though, this may also be down to regulations making modifications more difficult and costly.
Not to mention that Jeep believes they are doing their European customers a huge favor by letting them buy a Jeep and tends to be very anti-consumer once you are out the door.
The engine on the grenadier is bog standard BMW inline 6 diesel, which is bomb proof.
The Ineos can tow 1k KG more and has almost twice the payload capacity. Don't get me wrong, I like my Jeep, but had the Ineos been even close to replease when I needed a new car, I would have just got a beater and waited.

Had a Wrangler JLU 4XE as a rental car in Majorca recently. Full week to see what it could do, including some dirt/loose rock mountain tracks to reach our accommodation.

No opportunity to recharge from the mains, so views based on charging the battery from driving.

Well impressed overall and I thought well integrated. Would buy one.

+esave mode (charge by petrol engine) worked really well on charging the battery on downhill sections and those drives with frequent braking/ slowing /stopping such as A roads
+ electric mode great for towns and other areas where silence and air pollution undesirable
+ quick on the fly with electric and petrol working together (hybrid mode)
+ a couple of trips out during the week with esave on gave us enough power recovered for a weeks electric only use on the estate we stayed on ( 3 miles per day approx including 4 HI climbs.)
- 2 litre 4 pot always felt like it was working hard and quite noisy although we only had a bikini top; although probably I noticed it less as the week went by ( i have a 3.6)
- difficult to charge the battery when engine working hard e.g. with a full passenger load and other power hungry tasks on, like AC on e.g. on motorway
- occasional flicking between modes for no obvious reason

I was planning to sell my `19 2.2d to change to the e4x4. However that was before my recent experiences dealing with jeep service and their blatant anti-consumer behaviour. No way in hell I will ever buy another product from them.
I am talking right now to our local Ineos importer right now. If the deal is good enough, I will likely go that route.
I had thought to go with a Ranger Raptor, but there are a LOT of complaints online about the rear locker giving up the ghost after just a few thousand KM. It seems that Ford is trying to deflect it as the customer damaging it.
Seems like the more expensive cars get, the worse the level of service becomes.
It makes be miss my Jaguar. They had fantastic service.
