I am converting my portable ARB Twin compressor to an on-board air system and am looking for some advice on wiring it into the factory Aux buttons.

The plug for the on/off switch coming out of the ARB Twin compressor has a black, red, and purple wire. The problem is that every ARB Twin wiring diagram I find only has the black and purple wire on them.

My guess is that the black goes to ground and the purple goes to the Aux button wire.

The question is, what do I do with the red wire?

a) cut it, not needed
b) combine it with the purple wire to tie into an aux wire
c) run the purple to an aux wire and the red to the ignition wire
d) other

Thoughts @Tncdrew, @Tech Tim, @Northridge4x4, @ARB4X4, @Terrymo, @Yawnie'sPapa, @sourdough, or others?

I'd have to dig into it more... my ARB Single compressor's wiring is a bit different.
Others can chime in.

This is a great install video- for the single, but the wiring should be the same.
The actual wiring instal starts at 18 minutes. I did mine this way two years ago and still works without issue.

The main power and ground wires are on a seperate line. Only one wire (red) was needed from the 'switch' bundle of wires. It is what gets connected to the aux wire.

I think you only need the red. The black and purple are prob for illumination on a seperate switch.

This is strictly without seeing a diagram, but that is how the wiring for the single worked. You only need a power line to trip the relay...

I have spent hours and hours searching and I can't find any info. here on the Forum or online about how to tie the "red" ARB switch wire to the Aux wires. Everything only talks about the black and purple wires.

Thanks. Yes, that is similar to how these three wires are tied to the switch on the original portable compressor setup. I just don't know how these correlate to the Aux wires under the dash.

This is what the ARB diagram looks like. The plug labeled "2" is where I have the red, black, and purple coming out and the diagram only has black and purple shown:

Apply 12v to the purple. That’s all you need. I did the same with my rig, completely stripped the wiring harness and only used the purple wire.

Edit to add photos:
Confirming, as it’s been a couple years. The purple is all you need, this is my aux taps in the passenger footwell.

Purple is the compressor tied into my aux tap for switch #3

Red is my radar detector tied in with the ignition switched tap included in the aux bundle.

Matches what you have.

If purple (from Jeepeto's post) works then great...
....but annoying from ARB, in automotive systems 'red' is power and 'purple or blue' are usually for illumination purposes.

Thanks! Based on that diagram, would you tie the blue or the red into the Aux wire?
Red for power.
Blue or purple is usually for illumination in automotive wireing.

You know what. After a closer look at the switch they set up. The red is supplying power into the switch and the blue is bringing it back to the compressor.
So in this case blue - or purple- should be connected to Aux.

Should have looked at it closer. Sorry.
