Streaming quality is definitely downgraded
Thank you for this. I’ve been on the fence because I was afraid it’d affect music playback.

This has been alright. Plugged into the center console. I’d rate it 8.5/10 overall.

Occasionally my phone doesn’t connect immediately at startup, but all I have to is hop in settings on my phone and connect via Bluetooth for a second and it immediately pops on. I’ve wondered if the Uconnect is still booting up or something. That’s the only issue I’ve ever had, and it isn’t usually an issue.

I consider this one of the better purchases I’ve made. Now if I could only turn off the USB power delay so that it wasn’t still being powered for a bit after I park the Jeep. My calls from inside our house occasionally get transferred to it if I’ve recently been driving.

Beats the fickle console wired connection any day.

I got my carlinkit dongle last year. It works well on my wife's 20' Civic so far. The connection is fast, no laggy.

So after going back to the carlinkit 4.0 for a bit and having to reset it on a regular basis I decided to try the carlinkit 3.0 since it was on sale for only $40 or so. I knew I didn’t want to try the 5.0 again because that one is absolutely horrible. Not Ottocast horrible but almost as bad.

The 3.0 has been pretty much trouble free for me. It’s had to be reset a couple times but nowhere near the newer options need to be reset.

Why the loyalty to Carlinkit if all their products have given you issues. The adapter I used, see page 2 of this string, might be worth a try. So far I'm happy with its performance. No guarantees but it might be time to try a new brand.

A few weeks ago I did do just that….i purchased the one you suggested.

The carlinkit 3.0 that was working so well for me started to cause my stereo to completely lock up and shut down. It happened two days in a row on my way home from work, and when it would happen the only way to get the stereo to turn back on is to pull over and shut down my jeep and restart it. Inconvenient to say the least. Hasn’t happened again since I stopped using the carlinkit 3.0.

I’ve been using the one that you suggested and having it plugged into the center console usb slot, and it’s been buggy as hell. It’ll randomly stop working or freeze up until I unplug it for about 10 seconds and plug it back in. Sometimes it won’t even start up when I start my jeep.

I’m going to try using the dash usb but I’m gonna have to figure something out because since the cable is just a few inches long it just hangs there.

I guess if I don’t have better luck with it plugged into the dash usb then I’ll have to start looking for yet another wireless CarPlay adapter.

Sorry to hear you're having issues still, even with the new adapter. I did not have those issues with mine. In fact it works more than I want it to sometimes. When parking close to the house in the driveway the adapter keeps picking up my phone calls even when inside the house. I can't hear the person calling but it probably sounds great in my Jeep... LOL. Good luck with your search.

This past week since I moved it to the usb in the dash it hasn’t made a hiccup yet. So maybe it’s just my center console usb that was causing the issues. I did get an 8” long usb extension cable so it’s long enough to be routed to the little crevice at the bottom of the dash console. Hopefully it’ll keep working properly. My only gripe right now is the 5 second lag between skipping tracks in Apple Music from when you hit the steering wheel button to actually changing tracks.

I have been using AAWireless 2023 - Android Auto since Prime days in July and it has worked flawlessly for Android, not a single glitch and see it is at its lowest price today on Amazon at $55.....

but curious if anyone has experience with android adapters that allow video like youtube/netflix? I was looking at reviews on the ottocast play2video and the Binize Android Auto on sale this week as it seems most will be on sale for black friday

Looking at the Carlinkit 3.0, but the reviews are...well, not great. So those of y'all who have it are happy? Inside center console placement works good? Want to pull the plug, but those reviews....trust this place more, just want that extra nudge :)

Been using this one for a while. Half the cost and works great. Connects up fast, no glitches. Every once in a while if I’m running errands and get in/out often I’ll have to click the Bluetooth to connect but that’s rare.

Don't believe everything you read.

Yes. I've used Carlinkit 2.0, 3.0 and currently using 5.0. All worked perfectly in the center console without any issues.

Go for the 5.0 when you purchase:
