Just got a 2024 Willys 4xe. How good are these all terrain tires in the snow?

Did they stop putting Firestone M/Ts on willys for 2024?

Also do you plan on traveling to snowy areas bc we don't exactly get enough snow to really test a tires capability in NJ lol.

Your 2024 Willys 4xe should have come with LT285/70R17C BSW Mud-Terrain tires.

To answer your question, mud terrains are not typically good in snow as they are designed to expel mud. A good snow tire actually grabs snow to provide better traction.

They changed the stock tires from the MT's in the 24's and now they come with KO2's.

@NJ_JL 2020 are you asking about performance in deep snow or on snowy roads?

OK. Either way, even the KO2's are not known to be great rain/snow tires. However, that being said, given the amounts of snow in the NY/NJ area the KO2's should suffice for normal driving in some snowy conditions.

Ive found my KO2s to be fine in the snow with multiple trips to VT and various road conditions. I would argue overall they're a better snow tire than rain. You could do better tho for sure. For what you'll see around NJ they'll be fine.

My XJ had grabber AT2s and that got me through 2ft of snow no problem. The xj now has ATx's on them and while they haven't seen 2ft they have seen some deeper snow with now problem.

In the winter I have blizzaks on my wife’s Honda crv and it performs better in snow than my JL on ko2s. The ko2s are fine but Once these things run down I’ll be looking for something else. I do quite a bit of snow driving in Colorado for the extra performance to matter to me.

Just to add as to why I asked ... I had a 2020 white sport S with the basic tires. My RWD BMW 335is convertible with dedicated snow tires handled better in the snow than the jeep in 4H.

KO2s have been great for me in the snow we get in the mountains around here. And although they’re not the best in the rain, they’re still better than the Toyo MTs I’ve had before. Looking forward to seeing how the KO3s do when we finally get some Jeep sizes in 2026.

That's going to be true for any AT tire compared to Winter Tires (they're not called snow tires anymore as they're for much more than just snow). 4WD does help you move forward in slick conditions but it doesn't help you stop and it is detrimental in holding lateral traction in curves. You should not use 4WD over 35 MPH in slick conditions.

In winter conditions a Jeep's 4WD compares to AWD SUVs like the Tortoise and the Hare. The Jeep's 4WD won't be able to go as fast as AWD, especially in curves, but it's far less likely to get outright stuck. Although slower, it will make it through worse conditions.

The best thing you can do is pick up a set of OEM take-off wheels for cheap and mount a set of Nokian Hakkapeliitta LT3s on them. Best winter tire a Jeep can get. Then just swap between your two sets when temps are consistently above or below 45 degrees.

Agree with this. A lot of folks here in northern NJ have summer tires and they are horrible when temps drop to the low 40's and below. They don't get it.

Will look into a winter tire option for the Jeep. Thx.
