When I bought my 2019 Wranger used a year ago, the finance guy convinced me to buy the windshield warranty since the windshield is more upright (OEM replacement coverage). Sure enough, a year into owning it, I caught a pebble and cracked it. I called the warranty company, told them it's on the edge of the windshield so it won't be able to be fixed. Offered to send a photo. He said that's not necessary, they'll have Safelite call me. Safelite calls, says they will attempt to repair it first. I told them the same, it's on the edge you won't be able to repair. Offered to send them the pic. They also said not necessary. They came out this morning and said "we won't be able to repair that". Told them I said that, and the tech said, I had 5 other customers yesterday with the same issue and said the same thing to the scheduler. ?‍♂

Im pretty sure that a policy to prevent Safelite locations from just replacing windscreens that can be fixed via their process. Its more of a checkbox they need to go through indicating one of their employees has physically made that determination. As ridiculous as some scenarios like yours would seem.

Of course not. It's now rescheduled for next Tuesday. When I was talking to the scheduler last week to set up this appointment, she said they wouldn't order the windshield until they confirmed they can't repair it. Of course if they had looked at the pic I was offering to send they would have known this.

Did he bring a windshield with him?

I'm good with the policy of repair before replace, but if they looked at the picture, they would have known.
