Window vent shades

I have been looking all over for window vent shades. The folks at AVS don't seem to have the design fully cooked yet. I was able to place an order but I was immediately informed that they were up for re-design and wouldn't be available until the end of the month. And that was in July!

Turns out that was a luck break for me. I had already installed a hood deflector from Focus Auto Design.

So i reached out to them to see if they had any plans for window shades and it turns out that in July they announced at a SEMA conference their plans to introduce matching window shades to the hood deflector. Here is a pic from their press release and here is a pic of the mold that they sent me to show that they were coming.

I really like the look, so I am going to hold for the release of these instead or any others. I love matching parts on my ride.

I will. I was told this fall, which is a long time to wait but I like the look of the hood deflector so much that I've decided to wait. Love the look, but i'd rather see them in-channel somehow. I am not a fan of the adhesive backed ones.

How do the in-channel not create a gap when the window closes? I've wondered about extra wind noise with in-channel. Any experience?

Those molds aren’t for the ones pictured on the truck - those are smooth line molds.

They are the pictures that were sent to me when I inquired with my contact at the company about the window vents. I wasn't told specifically what the molds were for other than they were working on them. The price will be set around later this summer. When I find out, I will re-post so that anyone interested knows..

How do the in-channel not create a gap when the window closes? I've wondered about extra wind noise with in-channel. Any experience?

The window and visor both squeeze into the original gap. It's a little snug for the first week or two, but they work okay. I prefer the stick on kind (I've had both) because they tend to stick out from the glass a little further. If you want a low profile visor the in-channel are pretty nice.
And FWIW, the in-channel don't create any more wind noise then the stick on kind (or the other way around), though I did notice when I put the visors on my JL, they do make a little more wind noise than not having them at all. It's minimal, and well worth being able to leave the windows cracked without having to worry about rain or enticing criminals to try to get in.

As they poster above stated, after a week or so, they work together, making a tighter seal. At least to me. I like them because a) they don't stick to paint and b) lower profile. I like that look and also less wind noise when it's windows are cracked.

I bought and installed in-channel deflectors by Westin. They looked great and worked perfect for being able to leave my windows cracked to let the heat out. I have since removed them because when I removed the freedom tops and had the windows down, the wind deflectors changed the airflow so much that the wind coming through my driver side window so that it hit me directly in my ear. That is a deal breaker for me.

I also noticed that they changed the airflow around the Jeep a bit. It's not quite in my ear, but there is a difference. Like you, if it was in my ear, they'd come off (at least the front set would). That's one of the things I really like about the JL is that you can drive with the windows down and not have the wind blasting you in the ear. Glad I chose to got with the stick-on rather than the in-channel. That's a deal breaker for me too.
