Winch Help

I am assuming that the winch lost (was not winning) if it could not pull a cooler. I'll also assume it was whining a lot too.

it can be struggling or the cable is just not attach to the drum.

Did you have it engaged, as in not in free spool? Once you unhooked the cooler did the cable wind in?

How heavy was this cooler? Also, so you are aware, the maximum pull rating for the winch is for the last wrap. The more warps of winch line, the less the winch will pull.

I had it tied to a cooler and wouldn’t pull it in

Sorry if I missed it, but was the engine running? Was the amp also in use?
Were you trying to pull something toward the Jeep and neither the Jeep nor the item were moving? Maybe a quick video of what’s going on?

Damn I meant It won't pull 10k Lbs as advertised. By amp, I meant amplifier for a speaker. I attached a pic maybe that will help.

If it can't pull a cooler then something is fundamentally wrong. As others have asked, was the winch spinning and not doing anything? There's a clutch that has to be engaged for it to actually do useful work. There should be a lever on it to engage / disengage that clutch.

Maybe post a pic of the winch?

I made that mistake once and didn’t have the winch (wench?) engaged. Panic set in for a moment until I realized the issue was the lever was in the wrong position. After positioning correctly it pulled hard and long.
