Ya updated that.I am assuming that the winch lost (was not winning) if it could not pull a cooler. I'll also assume it was whining a lot too.
it can be struggling or the cable is just not attach to the drum.

Sorry if I missed it, but was the engine running? Was the amp also in use?I had it tied to a cooler and wouldn’t pull it in

I made that mistake once and didn’t have the winch (wench?) engaged. Panic set in for a moment until I realized the issue was the lever was in the wrong position. After positioning correctly it pulled hard and long.We'll need more details if there's a chance of us being able to help.
If it can't pull a cooler then something is fundamentally wrong. As others have asked, was the winch spinning and not doing anything? There's a clutch that has to be engaged for it to actually do useful work. There should be a lever on it to engage / disengage that clutch.
Maybe post a pic of the winch?
