I don't like random dipshits parking next to me either, but at least I'll go out of my way and park the absolute farthest away from wherever that I can (and stay between the lines, against my better judgement).

Honestly can't remember all the times I've parked somewhere only to come back to a giant door ding or quarter panel sideswiped by some inconsiderate pos that doesn't have respect for anyone else's property, let alone their own.

Taking up 2 spots is still an inconsiderate dick move, but I completely understand their logic.

Except that taking up multiple spots triggers people and it makes it a lot more likely you'll have someone intentionally damage your car. And that gets more likely the closer to the building you are.

Taking up multiple spots in the back of a half full lot is the better thing to do. Though if the lot is full you should take up just one slot.

If you're really worried about door dings and what not, leave the nice car at home and drive a beater you don't care about getting dinged.

For my Wrangler, the steps/sliders that are beat up almost guarantee I won't get a door ding from a car next to me. But they'll ding up their door pretty good.

Yup. Taking a far corner spot on a half empty lot and park as close to the curb as possible is one thing. (Thats what I usually do). But taking the only two available spots on a busy lot is another thing. Expect some "pleasant surprise" coming back...

💯 why some people are Jeeper haters. I can’t tell you how many times I see this. Why?

i see a lot of people parked close to like that, some just like that, and hardly ever is it a jeep.

Because some people are pigs.

No need to look for any other explanation.

On a completely unrelated note, have you noticed how many BMW drivers are trading in for Wranglers?

I saw this the other day. Out of the photo on the left, about 50 yards away, is a huge open paved area where he could have very easily changed his tire without blocking an intersection. But... whatever.

I'm curious what motivates this.

Is it, "I simple don't give a crap about others and seeing if I'm within the confines of a single parking spot?"

Is it, "I'm in a rush/I'll only be a minute and can't afford the time to check if I've parked between the lines?"

Is it, "parking in two spots increases the chances that another vehicle won't clip me?"

Is it, "so what, there are plenty of spots despite the fact that I am taking up two?"

Something else?

There's another parking phenomenon I just learned about recently where if people see a vehicle parked far away by themselves in a parking lot they will intentionally park next to them just to piss them off.

Just last week I parked at the far end of the supermarket lot where no one was and came back to someone parked right next to me as close to the line as possible.

Turns out people are just jerks for the sake of being a jerks.

I'm not too worried about door dings in my Jeep. It is very tall with a 4 1/2" lift and 40s. And at the level that a car door would hit the side of my Jeep it is heavily armored. Their door is either going to hit a tire or the RSE Stepslider, neither of which is going to sustain any damage from a car door. So, the sad part is that these idiots that take up two parking spots with a Jeep don't even need to park that way in the first place.

I've experienced the people that park right up against you even though you park in the next county and walk to the store. Another example of being an asshole.
