I haven't had time to try or test, but figured I'd bring it up for discussion.

It looks like wired carplay utilizes the phone GPS, but wireless carplay utilizes the vehicle GPS. I'd assume that a wireless carplay dongle would still utilize the phone GPS, but not sure.

May be a way to get a secondary antenna tied in.

The Uconnect GPS receiver can’t is be used by another device. CarPlay uses the Uconnect screen as a second display.

It definitely does in wireless, and was recommended in carplay development for wired. I know speed data is communicated, because incorrect tire size will display incorrect speed in carplay GPS apps.

Ok so speed data is being shared from the Uconnect device to the iPhone, doesn’t look like the Uconnect GPS is taking the place of the iPhone A-GPS. Sound right?

Tomorrow’s CarPlay session at WWDC23 should be interesting with Apple CarPlay SharePlay. No idea if any GPS functionality changes are coming.
