I don’t think it’s going to be very easy to read at night, with a row of strong LED lights blasting out from it like a headlight while you back up. It functions like a backup headlight, that happens to mount over the license plate. It turns on when you shift into reverse, in conjunction with the backup lights in your tail light assembly. When you aren’t backing up it’s off.

Ok, so its a backup light. Sorry, was not understanding its purpose. The backup camera on even the 2024+ it terrible at night so the extral 'boost' must make a big diff.

Yes, an extra spot light at ground level when in reverse. Plugs right into the Morimoto XB taillights with a single wire. It mounts by the two standard license plate screws, but you need a 3rd hole to run the wire from the back of the bar, through the bumper, and under and up inside the body to the plug-in in the back of the tail light.

Under the plastic bumper license plate area, there is a bunch of metal in spots blocking the way. I found it a bit annoying to find the right spot to remount the license plate, and make the 3rd hole. You kind of have to move things around an inch or two. You can easily put a bunch of holes in the bumper if you’re not careful. It seems like a no-brainer 2-minute install at first.…. Til you hit the metal below.

Good to hear they've lasted! Yeah originally was going to go Oracle but it seems like theres mixed feelings on quality/longevity whereas I haven't seen any bad reviews for Morimoto
FYI - Morimoto Black Friday sale alert just received $368.80 / 20% off.

The smoked lens is subtle which I like. I previously had the Oracle reverse lights that went into the reflector housings. I got the first batch when they came out a few years ago. They worked great, and they were super bright. No issues with their offering at all. Winters, car washes, etc. No problems.

I replaced my plastic bumper recently with an OEM steel bumper, and decided to try something different for reverse light “boosting,” since I was going with the Morimoto tails.

Install was very easy. Yes - it does require drilling some holes to slightly lower the plate location, to accommodate the top mounted light bar. Very simple and the wiring plugs directly into the provided taillight harness. It is very bright, but does not “wash out” the rear camera screen view. The bar is slightly angled down. So best to avoid installing on the bottom of plate (as I saw someone doing on social media), as the boost bar will be upside down, and project light upwards.

Below pic may give you an idea.

Nice! Just ordered, didn't go with the boost bar as I'll just add chase lights in the future

The reverse lights by themselves look pretty bright too

Went with the Morimoto XBs (Red, Clear Lens) a few weeks back. Look nice, very bright, plug and play install.

I have the reverse light bar also. But didn’t want to drill too many bumper holes, so haven’t installed yet. It’s kind of tight back there, and I found it hard to find the best spot to run the cord through, with metal blocking things underneath the bumper in spots. That light bar just plugs right into the tail lights once mounted. But you have to run the cord through the bumper surface to plug it in To the left tail light.

Much better than stock, although those who have also had Oracles say they are a little brighter.

I agree. Way better than the stock halogens, but in videos, Oracles are said to be brighter in reverse lighting. I didn’t like the reliability reports of the Oracles though. Very happy with the Morimotos. Biggest PIA getting plugged in to set up JScan to change the settings to “led” for the tails.

I thought the Morimoto comes with resistors for plug and play for halogen?

They do, and magnet mount as opposed to Oracle with no mount.

edit - you would think you could order with or without, but nope, they all come with them.
