So the IBS contributes data to "precisely control the charging system." Sounds like the "mumbo-jumbo" described by @alphawolff in post 53 of this thread regarding how target voltages are determined. "Precisely" may be just fine tuning, like done in high end voltage regulation devices. Maybe something related to differences among JL models. Maybe something else. Maybe worth it's own thread.

Yeah, pretty much. It's used but is in no way critical to the system's function.
