Hi guys & girls
I have 2019 2door Rubicon.
I'm new to the sport.
Mainly a mall crawler but been out 2 times and hope to get out more.

I need new tires. (factory 285/70R17)
Which do you recommend I do??

Option 1:
Stay with factory tire size.
Do a small lift (2 1/2 - 3")
Brand suggestions as I would like to keep all the existing driving characteristics.
Option 2:
Go to a 35/12.5R17 and change rims to match.
No lift.

Cant afford todo both....
Open to all suggestions and Ideas.
Thanks in advance. Cheers!

Lift and 35s then you can swap wheels later. Don’t lock yourself in with the smaller tires and regret it later.

Since it’s a Rubicon, you can get away with a smaller 35” tire like the BFG KO2s (315/70/17) and not need the lift. Would only rub if you are doing more extreme off roading at full flex.

If you go larger tires, make sure you look at your rear gears as they likely need changed. Also, remember larger tires, or same tires and a lift, either way you're going to negatively impact your already not great gas mileage.

Yep- to the first and second posts. If finances are an issue 1. Tires : 2. Lift : 3. Wheels. Or wait until next tires for wheels to save the extra mount and balance.

Skip the lift now and lift later.

35 GY Duratrac are what I run on my JLR-X and they are best tires for all around driving, snow rated, sand, dirt, rocks, but at the same time they are not your 7++ Moab trail killer, you need to step up to a full fu man chi for the Rubicon trails.

You will need NEW wheels. The Jeep wheels are to narrow to run the GY 35x12:50x17, I have 9 in wheel on mine.

For a vehicle that rarely sees trails ( and presumably NEVER does seriou rock crawling). Stick a set of decent stock size (or 315’s if you’ve just gotta have bigger tires) and call it good. You already own one of the most capable vehicles out there for off road. Put on new rubber and spend your extra money on trips to actually USE the Jeep.

No lift, 34x10.50/17 or 285/75/17 BFG or Toyo AT III tires. Spend what’s left over on paying down the Jeep.

A paid of Jeep is the best money you will ever put into it.
