I've run into issues with rust using black oxide bolts for mods on the exterior of my Jeep. I recently purchased some black titanium bolts and have not had any rust issues. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to find a reliable source to purchase additional black titanium hardware in all the sizes that I need. Does anyone have a lead on a vendor whom I can contact with my requirements? Or what do other people use for black hardware that is not susceptible to the elements?

With an ultimate goal of rust abatement, might you consider a local powder coating outfit or buying a powder coating kit?

On the small parts you describe, powder coating can often occur in a kitchen toaster. Still more, if you're dealing with odd parts you might not be able to find them in titanium.

You are correct about not being able to find certain hardware in titanium as I've spent an annoying number of hours looking.

Had not even thought of or considered DIY powder coating and didn't even know that was a possibility. Thanks for the idea – will do some research and see what I find!

I use black stainless from BelMetric. Not sure what your application is or the size needed but it’s worth a look.Use anti seize on the threads.

I get all my black stainless from amazon.
Here is an example of my last purchase.

Are you using these on the exterior? And you don't see rust? Because I bought a few of these stainless steel black oxide bolts and they are showing signs of discoloration and rust. Wondering what the difference is in what I previously picked up.

I used them on my Motobilt fender liners, Next Venture diff skids, Rusty’s Off-road rear fascia, and other exterior locations. No rust but we’re in a near desert climate in SoCal

I think they're primarily for bicycles, but for smaller fasteners you can check BetterBolts.com. They may have some larger fasteners if you contact them or give you a lead on where you can source them.

Glad it worked out. They have been around awhile and seem to have a pretty thorough selection/offering.
