so much ado about nothing.

no tech needs to look up anything; if they find a single aftermarket part that doesn't have an EO number on it, that's it.
My techs at my 14 California dealerships have to use that database to look up parts at times because that EO number is not clearly visible— especially on exhaust parts.

you have 14 dealerships in Calif?

i'd be impressed if the techs would actually look up anything in a database at all!

would love to hear what dealerships those are,..

Rush Truck Centers. Here are our US locations https://www.rushtruckcenters.com/locations/. The Canadian locations are under a different name and website as Rush Truck Centres due to how they spell "centres" there.

We are the largest medium and heavy duty truck dealership in North America with 160 dealerships across the US and Canada. While most of our locations are heavy duty Peterbilt or International dealerships, we also have ten light and medium duty Ford dealerships, with a few being in California. We used to have GM dealerships, but sold them. We also have many dealers in the other states that abide by CARB like Colorado, Nevada, and New Mexico.

So, yes, we have to use that database from time to time when doing inspections, hence the reason why I know about it.

ah, Commercial.

i suspect things work a little differently for those of us general consumers dealing with the businesses we have to when smogging privately owned vehicles.

While we mostly sell commercial vehicles, we also sell to non-commercial customers as well.

For example, looking at our Ceres-California vehicle inventory, there are Broncos, non-fleet F150's and Super duties. I am not sure why you keep trying to prove that we don't do something when we actually do.

relax; you misunderstand
.
we’re weren’t talking about selling vehicles, we’re talking about getting privately owned non-commercial vehicles their biennial smog Cert; i didn’t see anything at a glance that implied your Dealerships were offering that kind of service.

if you do, great.

but you seemed to imply the Smog Techs most of us are having to deal with in Calif are looking up EO certs when we’re going to see them. maybe they *can*, but that seems to be a far sight different experience than most of us are having.

Yes, all of our California dealerships have service departments that also do CARB emissions inspections. And yes, our techs use the database when they have questions about a possible mod that does not have a visible EO number.
