When you remove it the holes left by the screws shouldn't be too noticable.

this... I'd be trying to get a new panel from the dealer. Such BS that they screwed through a visible panel for something like that and apparently didn't ask or inform the buyer of it. I don't mind when I screw holes into my dash, but I don't want anyone else doing it.

There is zero chance I wouldn't be going back to the dealer to get a new piece of trim. This practice of adding tracking must be a US only thing. As if anyone is ok with a dealer doing that to a brand new vehicle and not, at the very least, informing the buyer.

Pull the trim and show us how it's electrically connected. If it's some janky, half assed install, take pics and bring it back for removal. Even if it isn't a shitty install, take it back and get them to deal with it.

Remove it..

Replace the plastic cover with the holes in it.

The plastic cover is not that expensive. $55+-.

Be sure to save the white clips on the back of your old plastic cover as they are worth $ and you may need them in the future..

Here is the part # for that plastic cover.

We purchased this wrangler new under a year ago. It is a 2021 rubicon 2 door. I don’t drive it often and noticed this sensor looking device, it has 2 lights that I have not seen turn on and a small black button on the top. It appears wired in under the steering panel. It is not plugged into the diagnostics port. Any suggestions ??
I haven’t seen them on any other wranglers. Tia!
@butl9892

You say "It is not plugged into the diagnostics port" ...... Do look over that OBDll port carefully...

Look at the back side of that OBDll port...

Could be what you are seeing in the stock OBDll port bracket is not the stock OBDll port..

What you are seeing may be a port that is cabled ... that plugs into your stock OBDll port. Again, carefully look over ... look behind that OBDll port / bracket.

The dealership should know what that is. No matter what though, it's bullshit and if you don't want it on there they should remove it, new trim and everything.

A new vehicle is new and should be treated as such.

You're gonna plunge two fucking screws into 20 mile old plastic?! Naw dawg.

Sorry, that get's me FIRED UP.
