In French. cars are always a “she”, even in slang (une automobile, une voiture, une caisse, une bagnole, une tire), and trucks are always a “he” (un camion, un bahut, un bouzin). A SUV is a “he”, same for a Pickup. But the Jeep (probably because the Willys MB of WW2 was so small and the newly liberated French were so fond of them), has always been a “she”. So mine will be a “she”, for sure.

It is fascinating that people feel compelled to name vehicles (much less assign gender lol)
I wonder if it comes from something imprinted in our DNA from back when humans depended on animals to help do work IE: horses, mules, ox and such. Or maybe it's just from having companion animals. Not judging at all many many people do it it's great

Humans will pack bond with just about anything. It's in our nature. We feel safer in groups.

For staying on topic, my Jeep is called jeep and it probably identifes as a mall crawler. I don't really do the name/gender for vehicles thing.

"What gender is your Jeep?" I honestly don't know for sure. I looked under the hood and couldn't see anything gender specific down there. And, I looked at the undercarriage; but, the armor plates cover up what's there. So, I'm really just guessing..

My current and past jeep (Wrangler) have both been Mojo, because when I'm not driving it I feel like I've lost my Mojo, so it's not an animal but a state of mind and it's gender neutral - or rather it.

The first time I went offroading in my Jeep, I managed to impact a tree (which later fell over). Therefore, my Jeep identifies as a chainsaw. The Jeep is definitely the "male" in the garage, because his companion is a princess who never sees rain or snow and is generally kept spotless (of course, she's also quite a bit older ;^)...
