I recently had some Yukon 4.11 gears installed in my 2019 JL with the 2.0. They have about about 5k on them and I’ve noticed a whine at hwy speeds. My question is what causes it and how to get rid of it.

The whine is a harmonic vibration coming from the teeth either entering or exiting the mesh pattern. Only way to remedy it, is to properly adjust pinion depth and backlash. Whomever performed the gear service will need to go back and make adjustments.

If the whine hasn't been present this whole time and it's just now starting, this could be a sign of accelerated bearing wear.

Either way, an inspection will be required and likely some adjustment made to the pattern.

Improper break-in of gears doesn’t help either. I have heard some reports that non-Dana gears have caused some noise issues in JLs. Haven‘t heard of Dana Spicer gears causing issues.
