This is definitely a question that is out there, and I cannot find the answer anywhere. I have a friend that is interested in a Jeep, but is very concerned about the material used for the wiring.

They have a problem with mice/rats chewing their wires and apparently they are attracted to soy-based materials. Does anyone know what Jeep uses?

The myth about soy based wire coatings attracting rodents just keeps hanging on. Soy based polymers have been used for years in many industries. The polymerization process removes all traces of soy flavor or scent, it ends up looking and feeling just like petroleum based polymers. Rodents have to chew because their teeth keep growing, if they set up nesting in your engine compartment, they will chew on something, wires are not exempt.

Tell your friend to get a cat and then buy a Jeep.

The same also other vehicles. A couple years ago a guy here with a new Vette left it parked in a garage for a few weeks. Came back to find that Mickey and friends had destroyed the wiring on his new car?
