Has anyone heard this before? I sent this over to one of my friends who's a jeep mechanic and he's only heard it once before and it was on a brand new JL. Unfortunately, he wasn't the one working on it so he doesn't know the outcome. This happens usually at about 40mph and sometimes as low as 25mph if the jeep hits a bump just right. Once I slow down to about 10-15 mph, it goes away until I accelerate again.

hard to tell for sure from the vid... has that cover been off? Where did the missing bolt go?

Yes, I have a axle seal leak, so I pulled the cover thinking maybe there was a piece broken off in the gears and it was grinding, but everything looked good. I stripped one head and didn't replace it yet.

@grostage after searching the forum, I noticed you had a FAD issue. I'm starting to think maybe that's my issue....would you mind checking out the video I posted and see if that's similar to your sound?

Hmm it’s hard to tell but with mine it happened going over little bumps or turning corners sometimes, pull your fad unit off the axle and look inside for carnage, there was a service bulletin for this I believe, good luck

Sounds like FAD. Pull it off and see if the coupler and solenoid seem to be working properly.
