I replaced all of my exterior halogen lights with LED lights from Oracle, including the DRL bulbs on my 2023 Sahara (so it has separate bulbs for the DRL and front turn signals). These are the LED bulbs I bought and installed.

I have a Jscan and disabled the led dropout when the headlights are on, and the DRL’s work just fine….nice and bright when the headlights are on. But when the headlights are off during the day (with the headlight switch in AUTO and the Jeep is in drive) the DRL’s are not on. I have DRL’s enabled in the 8.4 Uconnect.

Anyone have any idea what the issue is?

If I understand correctly you have the DRLs on with the headlights, then with headlights off (in auto) the DRLs are off too. Have you tried it the other way? HL off, DRL on. Just guessing, maybe the Jscan setting is conflicting with Uconnect.

I was able to go check on this just now. The DRLs only turn on when the headlight switch is in the “parking lights” or “on” position right now (since it’s light out) if it was dark out they would turn on with the headlights in “auto”.

This was checked with someone in the drivers seat with the Jeep running, parking brake off and in drive.

I tried all of this with the DRLs activated as well as deactivated in the 8.4 Uconnect….same result both ways.

If you had halogens and you replaced them with LED's, the LEDs will ONLY function in an "either-or" scenario. The halogens you removed were dual filament, the LED's are not. If you rotate the LED 180° they will work opposite of the way they are operating now.

I purchased a set of the Oracle's and tried them, and wound up putting the halogens back because of the exact problem you are describing.

If you go back to the Oracle web page there is a brief comment about losing some function when installing the LED bulb.

Very interesting. I didn’t realize this. Is this going to be the case with any aftermarket LED bulb?

I emailed Oracle after I realized the issue & went back & read the info on their web page. They verified that the LED's were not capable of dual function and they said that they weren't aware of any manufacturer making any with the dual functions at this time.

I am glad I only installed one side. I was able to return one white and one amber LED. They wouldn't let me return the set that I had opened.

Well I guess I’ll have to go out and flip the bulbs. I’d rather have them on as DRLs instead of parking lights. Or maybe I should try setting up my front turn signal bulbs as DRLs? I’m pretty sure I have that option with Jscan.

@NeilP changing the location to the front turn signals works like a champ.

Thanks for the heads up. I have a Tazer and JScan, but haven't used either one yet. My Jeep is currently in the body shop getting the corrosion issues addressed.

You will definitely want to change any settings you want to change using Jscan. Avoid using the Tazer for any of its “vehicle settings” options and just use it for its live settings. The live settings are stored on the Tazer itself and will be retained after an unmarry for dealership visits and the subsequent remarry. Doing it this way means you will only have to do the full reboot and two sleep cycles when unmarrying.
