A dude waved at me the other day as I was walking into CVS. I gave him a slight wave back but my face told another story of "Do I know you dude..., oh boy another crazy person"... then I looked back just before passing into the store, and I saw him get into a Jeep.. then it dawned on me . I feel like a prick to this day. Hey dude if your on here sorry about that.

It's ok. I'm sure he probably knows that you were confused. He probably just figured you were having a bad day.

Honestly driving downtown Toronto doesn't give me many opportunities to wave at anybody. I am constantly clinching my fist so I can control my middle finger and my eyes are focused right into the front of my travel direction. Our roads are now flooded by these unruly maniacs behind steering wheel and most of them share the very same sign. Yes. the B & W Uber sign on the rear window. There are literally thousands of them clogging the busy street traffic enriching our city air by extra few tons of smog every single day.

People give me the typical few fingers up hand still on the wheel "Hey, I see you and I'm waving but I want to be cool and not too obvious about it" and I'm over here all like "HEEEEEYYY!! HI! HELLOOOO FELLOW JEEPER!!! *wavewavewave*"
Me too :like:

Harley riders are much more likely to wave to each other.

It’s like the Jeep wave though. When I’m on the Road King I get waves from everyone but when I’m on the Fatbob I get nothing. The Fatbob is like the Cherokee lol, plus the wave is more like pointing at the ground as you pass each other now. I guess that’s a cooler wave.

Hahaha. I love it! Thanks for giving me a great chuckle.

Depends where you live. Usually people wave when they see someone driving/riding something that is the same as their vehicle, but is slightly uncommon. For example, when I lived in DC, yuppies driving their Jeeps rarely waved because there were so many at the time. However, motorcycles were more rare and we waved at each other regardless of our bike (I had a Kawasaki GPz550 and a Harley).

Contrast that with when I lived in Milwaukee. Motorcycle/Harley riders rarely wave at each other during the summer because there are so many. Otherwise you would always ride with only one hand on the throttle and the other constantly in the air.

That brings a fond memory of riding from DC to Milwaukee for the first Harley anniversary, the 95th, in 1998. People were lined across bridges over the highways waving at the Harleys coming into town and they got so excited when we waved back. :)

Pretty sure they’re just fighting the steering wheel to not wander off their lane.

In Japan the Jeep Wave does not exist, but I wish it did. Is the Jeep Wave only in the US? What about Europe, Australia, South America or other regions? Is the Jeep Wave to all Jeeps or just Wranglers? And while we're at it, what is the proper wave -- like a "hello" wave or more of a cool few fingers up Harley type wave?

Parked next to a JLU Sahara the other day at the grocery store. The owner and I both happen to be walking to our Jeeps at the same time so I complimented her Jeep. She looked at me like I had 6 heads, didn't saying anything and got in her JLU. It was slightly embarrassing, at least you made an honest mistake.

Maybe it belonged to her spouse. It took awhile for my wife to get use to me waving at other Wranglers. The rare times she drives mine, waving or having a Wrangler mindset doesn't exist. I tell her she's jealous because her fellow Mazda SUV owners have no pride.
