Does anyone know if the VLinker MC will work on the 4XE? Tried asking on Amazon and did not receive an answer. Also tried the Vgate web site and the email address they list will not work.

@ibgpin

Just one of the few reasons why I went with a OBDLink MX+ OBD2 Bluetooth Scanner is because OBD Solutions that sells the offering is a USA company.... Their Customer Service, Tech Support, etc. are readily available and they are quick to assist..to field questions. They actually answer the phone, etc..

About:
"OBD Solutions is the leading provider of on-board diagnostics solutions. Our hardware and software offerings cover the full spectrum of on-board diagnostic (OBD) applications. The privately held company was founded in 2002 and is headquartered in Phoenix, Arizona.

OBD Solutions specializes in the design, engineering, and manufacturing of OBD cables, interfaces, software, and development tools."

short answer yes. it works just fine.

I have the vlinker MC+ as well as the OBDLink MX+

The Vlinker works just fine for the most part. the only issue I have found is that you need to remove it from the OBD2 port & plug it back in when you want to connect jscan.

Once connected to the jscan app it worked perfectly.

I could never get it to work with the Torque app.

The OBDLink MX+ on the other hand worked perfectly with everything.

Just remember that for either one you still need a secure gateway bypass.

If someone asked me which I would recommend it would be the OBDLink MX+ - I line things that just work.

He's got a 4xe, just hasn't updated his profile.

Since OBD is standardized, I'd assume it'd work as well. My 5+ year old Foxwell handheld had no issues communicating with the 4xe, but haven't tried any of my BT setups since the Tazer is on it. Plus it's amazon, so it can just be returned.

@GATORB8

Was not sure if he had used with a 4xe.

4xe is causing headaches.... headaches in regard to it's dealings with programming, programmers and scan tools.

Those headaches have not been in the news much, so to speak... but again headaches..

Expect to see more on these headaches mentioned / posted over the next few months.. I am not at the liberty to share what I already know on this.

thanks guys. completely forgot about the signature. after almost a year of owning the 4XE, I finally updated my signature:)

An yes, there are a lot of programming headaches / changes with the 4XE compared to the rest of the JL line. that was a definite factor in using the JSCAN for my tire size, since I have had to go to the dealer several times. only needed the dealer once with my '19.

I am still fighting the "electric mode unavailable, Cabin heating or cooling" issue (parts on backorder no eta)

and I just started getting the fun reboots of my radio ever 15 - 45 minutes.

other than those, it has been great.

Thanks for the reply. The only thing I plan on doing with a programmer is change the tire size and TPMS threshold. The VLinker is cheaper so I will probably go with it. I know it seems silly to worry about $100 when the vehicle costs $65,000, but so many other upgrades are planned that buying more than I need doesn't make sense.

Sounds like you'll be fine with @Terminex 's comments above, but I didn't catch on it's for JScan, so my previous OBD standardization comment wouldn't apply.

np. just remember that you will still need a security gateway bypass module.

Just one more question. I know I need a security bypass module and jscan. I was under the impression I could remove both the VLinker and the bypass module once I make the changes I want. Is that a correct assumption?

Correct. You only need the bypass when making the changes.
