VIN sticker question

When I put on my half doors, the vertical VIN sticker that’s on the inside of the door sticks out and looks terrible. If I could move it down a couple inches it would be fine but removing it would very likely ruin the barcode. Has anyone successfully ordered a new sticker to be able to reposition or put elsewhere on the Jeep?

I think the windshield one is the only one you're not allowed to cover. (The doorframe one is covered by the door usually, anyway.)
I'd probably just cover it with removable black vinyl -- add a stripe to the passenger side, too, and make it look like the Jeep was built with them there
(But check the laws/rules/etc. of any states where you'll be driving. People have gotten tickets for dumber/smaller things.)

My bet is that it would be easier to get a new data plate for a 747.

this seems so odd to me. What do they do when it’s damaged in an accident? Certainly there has to be a way to replace it, I would think it’s needed for situations like that

So, there are sources for them. However, there are laws about tampering with the VIN marking. You can imagine why. I went to one of the sources posted in this thread and it appears to limit acquiring a VIN sticker to repair shops and requires them to provide certain evidence.

Given some determination, (and a C-note or two) you might well get a replacement sticker.

Here's a guy's post in a forum that had some experience with removing and replacing the VIN tag in Florida.

Here's the law in Florida. I'll leave it to you to interpret it. Just remember, the government interprets their own laws for enforcement. As for a 747 dataplate, It involved the regulator and then me or my coworkers. It was very well defined process, published in the laws.

You might be able to find an 8.5" x 11" or 12" x 12" sheet at a craft store, too. It's basically a large blank sticker. I used something similar to that product to make my sun visors more visually appealing

I have no idea of the laws or rules about VIN plates/stickers/etc.
