Hi everyone,

I just picked up a new 2 door wrangler with base audio. After playing around with the 7’ uconnect radio, I discovered that audio sounds much louder, clearer, and better when using bluetooth as opposed to USB or CarPlay.
Obviously this can be annoying when taking the top off and trying to blast some music. I checked the EQ settings on my iPhone and all are off. Sound check is also off in my settings. This whole thing is very irritating. Any suggestions?

Do you have the Sky One Touch top?

If so, once the top fully opens it mutes part of the bass. I always close it a notch once it’s fully open to regain the full bass experience.

Other than that I haven’t noticed any sound discrepancies with Carplay and Bluetooth.

Mine does not seem to restore the bass with that trick. I'd love to know how to disable that feature. WTH was Jeep thinking? It should be an option in the setup to enable/disable what switch/setting is changing the sound profile...it's awful. @JeepCares Please help!!

Nope just a 2021 Sports S 2 door. I seem not to be the only person with the base audio that has this problem. The carplay audio sounds literally 'just fine' and particularly not as loud as the bluetooth which sounds noticeably punchier, fuller, and louder. Which is weird because it was the opposite in my last car. Regardless, I haven't found any solutions that actually help. It's almost like the factory built in amp only will kick in on bluetooth but not when it's connected via usb.

Try turning the volume up on your PHONE while the music is playing. That has a DIRECT and immediate effect when I do it on any of my connected vehicles.

This works when connected with bluetooth. However when plugged in with USB and on carplay, the volume bar is literally just grayed out on any apple device. The volume can only be adjusted through the vehicle with carplay. However, I do make sure my volume is all the way up on my phone before plugging in.

Hmmmm. Maybe try NOT putting it all the way up and AFTER plugging it in, push the volume button anyway. It may not show on the phone but it should get louder. Otherwise, scour the phone AND that section of the vehicle menus for an obscure setting that could be the culprit. Make your changes ONE AT A TIME, then check the results. My Carplay connection can get finicky and sometimes I have to unplug and plug it in again.

Hi Johnsonrd,
Sorry to hear you're dealing with this! Have you had a chance to have this diagnosed by your local dealer? Feel free to send us a PM with your VIN. We'd be happy to look into this for you.

I found this link super helpful!
I was able to raise the usb volume by holding down the Siri button on the steering wheel and simultaneously turning the volume up. I’ve yet to see if turning that down again effects it the usb volume to be low again but my current usb volume is now way higher and I can keep it at 18-20 instead of closer to 30

I think it is louder on bluetooth due to the fact when you turn your phone up, its output increases and then the radio amplifies what it is receiving from your phone. When you are connected via USB, the output volume from your phone is flat and cannot be changed so you only get the volume from your radio itself. It has been this way in most the vehicles I have driven.
