I recently upgraded from 35s to 37s and mounted the spare in the highest of the three positions on my Teraflex Alpha HD tire carrier. The first time I backed up, it was obvious the tire was wreaking havoc on my rear cross-traffic sensors—they were beeping nonstop. The problem was that there wasn’t a higher mounting position to use.

After some deep digging, I found a five-year-old thread with a solution that sounded crazy: remount the spare so the valve stem sits at the 12 o’clock position. Surprisingly, it worked. Moving the valve stem essentially shifts the TPMS signal farther from the backup sensors, eliminating the interference.

I had a similar issue with certain LED brake lights being located too close to my GMRS antenna. Anytime id hit the brakes, massive interference. I either needed to locate the antenna further from the light, or I also learned that higher quality lights don't have that problem.

So... same same, but different.
