Somebody will make something before long. For now, I keep my Ruger LCP in the console. It fits like a glove there and is easy to get to. Hopefully I won't ever need it.

I stated in another thread that I've used this GunVault under the dash in the past. It may fit your needs if you're just looking to store a pistol. It can be had in combination or biometric access versions. It'll let you secure your weapon and have much faster access to it than you can with an under seat solution.

Get your CCW permit. A gun in a locked box is absolutely useless when you need it.

California is a shall issue state. You can apply with your local sheriff department and jump through the hoops and carry a gun legally. A gun that you can actually access in a heartbeat and handle business with.

For me it is a question of when I go to federal and state buildings for my job. I need a secure place to lock it while I am inside

Yeah, I'm pretty sure they'll make something for the JL soon.

There are also the console lock boxes that fit inside the center console. I have one of those in my JK and think it's great. One extra layer of protection that will stop petty theives but it's far from a bank vault. I'd think they would start making them too for the JL.

This one looks good, but it does get in the way of the USB port that I use in there.

Yup, that's the one I have. I like it and don't care about the USB in there so it works well. But again, it's for a JK.

Yeah, I'm not planning on getting one really, as its rare I need to actually lock something in there. Plus that's the USB I use for my carplay.

@Rockmaninoff , have you been hiding in a "Cry closet"?? There is no place safe enough to not need a gun. Even the moon has things that are unexplained.
If Niel Armstrong had a .45 installed under the dash of his Apollo rocket. I think Jeep can figure something out.
In the mean time, I just paid 14 bucks at Bass Pro for a small lock box I can bolt down inside the little storage area in the back. And 2 companies are currently redesigning thier gun holders for the JL.

I'm digging the center console tray, it looks like you still keep the top portion section for smalls too. I'm thinking there is not enough room under the seats, with the new JL design, for the old under the seat safe they made for the JK....

Yeah, unfortunately i think you are right about the lack for space under the driver/passenger seats in the JLUR. I really like having it under the drivers seat though. Its a bit more inconspicuous and might be a slightly more "challenging" (just because of its position) to breach? Anyway, their center console security insert for the JK is solid. I expect the same quality level for the JL one!

Now ... if Jeep could just build and deliver the JLUR I ordered in early April I would have a vehicle to install this center console security insert in :cwl:

I mounted some of those magnetic mounts in my armrest for my little 380. Fits good there
