Been conversing with this salesman and he’s pushing the 4xe which I have no desire for and after replying with my reasoning (want a 2 door) he sends me this reply. SMH…

Why not just say "I don't want a 4xe"... seems really simple... I also would be willing to bet, there are other dealerships that would be happy to sell you exactly what you want.

If they get another one of either of these for the price of the 4 door 4xe, buy it!

That v.1 EV setup is perfect (not a fan if the swished grill on the newer version).
To make this Magento a reality for us, they just need to start with no back seat (2 doors should only have 2 seats, like a sports car) and put a nice flat battery pack in the back and make it a PHEV or Full EV. SOMEONE PLEASE MAKE AN EV CONVERSION KIT FOR THE 2 DOOR... ?

it looks like they just changed it to where the 2 door 4xes are no longer available
Stretching the truth (if you remove the strike through text), but borderline acceptable when dealing with a professional liar salesman. Or how about total honesty and just say "2 door 4xes are not available"?

Yesterday we had one we could get
That blatant lie is enough for me to walk away from that dealer, demand to speak to his manager, or demand a different sale's person. There's no way I would reward that salesman with a sale after that.

“Dealer” does rhyme with “stealer.” ?

Sadly, usually the salesman that lies the most gets promoted to manager.

Include the rear bench, but make it easily removable.

The designed-in absence of a rear seat tends to adversely affect insurance rates. Insurance companies tend to view such vehicles as de facto sports cars (exactly as you allude to), with corresponding use cases. Yes, a Jeep is a Jeep, but don't underestimate the sideways thinking of the mainline insurance firms.

It's not accidental that Porsche, for example, shoehorned a tiny and well-nigh unusable rear seat in the 911s, etc. Anything to gain an edge for the customer.

I have a Blown 454 V-drive old Sanger boat ( deemed unsafe and not produced in decades) . I was told ins was horribly expensive if you could get it. When I got the policy it was surprisingly dirt cheap- the agent, a friends sister, listed it a “cruiser” , the engine a “Diesel”. I didn’t correct the mistake- if it was one. Two words made the difference. ( Sanger called them “Mini-Cruisers” for a reason.)

For context I was inquiring when the 2.0 turbo was going to be available for order when the conversation went off the rails…so actually there are not other dealers that can sell me what I want.

Would be really nice if the 2-door came with an easier to remove 2-piece setup. That way you could just take half the rear seat out and leave one seat in (or fold one down independently).

All you have to do is ask.... I don't know if they work with mufflerbearings inc. But they do know how to put on a great Jeep show!

I did a little work in construction years ago, and this reminds me of when somebody cut a piece of lumber a little short, asking the noobs to go find the "board stretcher" :)

My salesman a couple years ago told me that I could only get the freedom panels if I got the Freedom edition. I just sadly stared at him.

Tell him you are willing to pay $200,000 for it if he can track it/the purchaser down.

It's pretty funny coming from our point of view, but those dealers also carry the

  1. wrangler
  2. gladiator
  3. renegade
  4. compass
  5. cherokee
  6. grand cherokee
  7. grand cherokee L
  8. wagoneer / grand wagoneer / grand wagoneer L
All of which are different with different features. The renegade/compass/cherokee I think are similar enough, as are the grand cherokee/grand cherokee L, but I can EASILY see someone getting lost in all the trims and stuff.

I could totally see someone being surprised the 2 door doesn't have the 4xe option, especially given how hard Jeep pushes it on the 4 door lol.

That said, nothing more annoying than a pushy sales person.
